PA nestie needs Travel help

Hi Ladies! For my dh's 30th birthday he got tickets to the Nascar race over memorial day in Charlotte weekend from his Uncle. I am trying to plan a weekend trip around it. Where would you suggest that we stayed? I was looking at a few hotels in the area, but they appear to be booked or booking quick. A private rental would also be nice. Things to do? I have been working a ton of overtime and will still be up until there, so I wanted to plan a special weekend for the two of us. Any suggestions would be great. Thank you!

Re: PA nestie needs Travel help

  • When I went for the car shows we stay away from the track at this place. It looks to have availability that weekend but it's not cheap for the race weekend.

  • I work near the speedway and we refer people to the Sleep Inn (Concord), Wingate by Wyndham (Concord), or the Sleep Inn (Kannapolis). There are of course some pricier hotels like the Embassy Suites or Great Wolf Lodge next to the Speedway. You can also try the Marriott or other hotels in the "University" area of CLT.

What types of things do you two like to do? How far are you willing to drive? There are things like Discovery Place (downtown CLT), IKEA (University), Whitewater Center (South CLT), shopping in NoDa or Dilworth. Of course, there is the Outlaw Showdown with the World of Outlaws Sprint Series on that Friday at the DIRT Track at Charlotte :)

  • We like to shop, sight see, that type of stuff. The whitewater center sounds interesting, I'll have to look into that. We don't want to go to far, maybe 20-30 minutes from where we stay. Thanks for your help!

  • The white water center is a lot of fun!
