3 weddings this year...WTF?!

We're too old for this_shit.  Next week we go to Vegas for a friend's wedding.  In June SIL is getting married in Chicago and then we go to Toronto for a cousin's wedding in October.

On top of those 3 trips, I'm going to DC for a week and possibly to Nashville for a weekend and P will be going to India for about 2 weeks over the summer.  And that doesn't include our random weekends in Chicago visiting the IL's.

Next year I will get my vacation that is just the 2 of us!!  It's been way too long.

Re: 3 weddings this year...WTF?!

  • If it makes you feel any better... I have 6 weddings to go to this year. 2 are out of town and I'm in one. Then I have 4  friends who are pregnant due the same week!!
  • I only have one wedding this year and I only had one last year. It's really slowing down on my end.

However, I do have 9 pregnant friends or family members. Not due in the same week.

  • The PITA part of it is that 2 of the 3 are family weddings.  For Hindu family weddings you can't just show up, go to the wedding and reception and be done with it.  There are typically 4 days of events and MIL insists that I have a new outfit for each event including changing between the wedding and reception.  Thank goodness she takes care of dressing me.  The good news is that after this year all of the close family members will be married off!!

Is the attire change typical in Hindu weddings? I didn't know that. I think Hindu weddings are so beautiful but definitely time consuming.

  • For the women in the family, the clothing changes are quite common.  Since each of the family weddings are having both Hindu and Christian ceremonies, I'm hoping it doesn't turn into 3 outfits for the wedding day.

We've pretty much decided to drive to Toronto because of all of the clothes, shoes and jewelry that I have to take with me.  It's just insane.

  • I remeber the year we got married we had 7 weddings to go to (not including our own!). It was crazy! Only one was local.

Now all my friends are pregnant... so now I have lots of showers (including my own). I guess we are at that age.

  • I feel your pain. We had 5 family weddings (including ours) the year we got married. You will get by.
  • I just have my sister's in November but I'm sure the family will be in a tizzy!

And I've secretly always wanted to go to an Indian wedding.  The ones I've seen on TV look super fun.

  • I have 3 this year, and all are out of town.  So we will be traveling A LOT between their showers and weddings and other things.  Too much!!  But I'm happy for them all and they did it for me last year when I was the only one!
  • I thought I was too old for this too -- I am in a Hindu wedding as well and wasnt prepared for the 4 outfit changes. That wedding is out of town, so airfare and hotel are getting to be costly. Mark and I are both spending our birthdays at weddings this year, and I am in two more. Its crazy. Baby showers are fun -- I am throwing one this weekend, way less stressful than weddings.
