Power Windows & Siding

Does anyone have any experience with them?

Sometimes I feel like the internet is more of a hindrance than a help. They have a very good BBB rating, but I saw some complaints that made me feel uneasy about them. They stopped by our house on Monday night and we live in a development where they aren't supposed to solicit, but he said that he does work for our homeowners association so it's okay (which one of the complaints tells me that this is just a line, but we believed him).

We need new windows and a new sliding glass door badly, but I'm not trying to waste my time with their estimate, and/or overpay. Does anyone have any stories to share?

If not, does anyone have a window/glass installer they can recommend?

TIA!

Re: Power Windows & Siding

  • We used PJ Fitzpatrick a few years ago go get our windows capped and were happy with them and our neighbor wound up hiring them for all new windows when he saw them doing the work at our house.  www.pjfitz.com is their site.  GL!
  • They came to my house last week, and I told them that about a year ago, we replaced all our windows and doors. He STILL tried to get me to give him the time for an estimate. Get a clue, idiot!

Since my H works at Lowe's, I'm extremely biased, and we always get the best prices and quality of work through them. I can't say enough fabulous things about our installers, and I can find out their names (brain fart!) if you're interested.. they work out of the Turnersville store.

When we looked to replace our windows and doors, we priced-out other companies, and Lowe's matched the lowest price plus gave us 10% off (even with H's discount). So, I guess, hands down, Lowe's will always be the cheapest with the extra 10% off.

  • Thanks for the rec!

  • My parents have always raved about Sunbeam Windows and Doors.  We plan to get a quote from them for a storm door and some window replacements.  We may also check out Lowe's now that we know they do good work!

  • My mom had an estimate done from them and they were significantly higher then the company they went with, Pella.  Their windows are very nice though.  Whatever you do, don't go with their first estimate.  They always go down in price.  DH used to work for them and told me that tidbit as well.  I would try Pella windows.  My mom also liked Castle Windows.

DH has family members that work for Pella...I'm not sure why we didn't think of this before. Thanks for the recs/advice!!
