He said, "I agree with Senator McCain," way too much! While I think it shows nuance and maturity to admit to agreeing when you agree, it doesn't sound good to the average Joe.
Re: Obama is too polite.
Deductive reasoning isn't a conservative or liberal attribute. ~epphd
Aw come on, Tef! McCain did more smirking than did Obama! And laughing under his breath while Obama was speaking!
(btw... our "inner brides" are practically twins!)?
I think this is where we're all going to have to agree that perspective is huge. I was soooo frustrated with the # of times Obama talked over/interrupted/mumbled into his microphone while McCain talked.
I'm voting for agreeing to disagree on who was worse.

I don't think we will agree on this point (biases and all). Smirking is one thing, talking over someone is another (I liken it to the huffing Gore did in 2000). Won't hurt him, but it does not make him look polite, imo.
I'm with ya, Kate.
?
Man, they're fast! I naturally hate the ad, but I'm biased. I do think there's something damaging to political discourse when any expression of agreement is exploited as a weakness, though.
I wonder how much this ad will run if polls show that the debate was determined a tie or Obama victory? Wouldn't it be a negative reminder of McCain's non-win then?
As for the politeness issue, that's Obama's style, and I don't think changing it at this point is a good idea. Look what has happened since Palin has been stuffed with talking points rather than expressing her personality freely: train wreck.
