Anyone here have a Roomba or other robotic vacuum? Just hoping to get some first hand reviews.....I'm seriously considering getting the inexpensive model which goes on sale tomorrow....Roomba 400 Series for $139.76 cdn. Maybe it would be worth waiting to get one of the pricier models though...I don't know....anyone?

Re: Roomba/Robot Vacuum
I had one a few years ago and didn't like it - BUT I am the type of cleaner that when I want to clean a room I want to get in clean from top to bottom and get out, so IMO it took too long. Esp when I was done cleaning the next room but the Roomba wasn't done in the first room so I'd end up vacumming with the upright anyway.
I will note that I had a very simple model. You had to set it in the room turn it on and go and get it when it was done and plug it in. I think now you can get the ones that return itself to the charging station, and can program them to do rooms at certain times (like during the day when you are at work).
All in all I think it vacummed up fairly well, just didn't work for me.
My FI had one of these before I moved in, and I wasn't a huge fan. It picked up well enough, but it would get stuck in corners or around furniture a lot. I guess if we left it alone it would have eventually worked its way out, but I ended up just kicking it in the right direction most of the time.
If you buy one, I'd try to use it when you aren't around so you aren't following it around the whole time, and definitely expect to have to use a real vacuum every once in a while.
HTH!
My neighbor has one. She loves it. But she doesn't keep her house super clean and she lives with a yellow lab, two chihuahuas, two chihuahua/weiner dog mixes, and some cats. She turns it on whenever she leaves the house.
From an outsider's perspective, her house isn't ever full of pet hair. But if you keep a clean house, I don't think it would be the best option for a vacuum.
