McCain wouldn't put Palin in
CNN interviewed Biden after the debate and tried to get Palin to counter but Team Palin refused. Instead Camp McCain put up some "Sr. Communications Consultant" no-name.
Telling.

Not sure what you are disagreeing with. CNN just said that Palin wouldn't come on after the debate despite the fact that she was invited, as was Biden.

Okay, but I'm not speculating why or why not Palin refused and Biden accepted. Just pointing out that she/McCain refused to put her on the program. CNN wanted to interview both VPs, but only got one.
I was responding to what I felt like you were imply with your "telling" comment. Sorry if I misread you.

You are both right.
McCain doesn't need his VP to spin his performance tonight - he nailed it (at least on the foreign policy stuff).
And even if he did need it, the campaign isn't putting Palin in because Palin sucks. ?I am going to need to be WASTED on Thursday if the Couric interview was any barometer.?
Deductive reasoning isn't a conservative or liberal attribute. ~epphd
But it's a political decision. ?The Obama campaign predicted (correctly) that they were going to need someone to bat cleanup on the foreign policy stuff. ?So it made sense to accept CNN's offer and put Biden out there. ?The McCain campaign had nothing to gain from doing that. ?That goes double for a VP wildcard like Palin.
It will be interesting to see how they use Palin after a more economy-focused debate. ?I'm guessing they will still choose not to, but not because McCain nailed it...?

Just to clarify, I don't think either needed a spin master. But they BOTH put up spin masters and CNN interviewed two spin masters. CNN tried to get the spinners to be the VPs but while Obama agreed to put up Biden, McCain went with some no name communications deputy.
So in other words:
- Obama: Biden
- McCain: No name communications director.
See the difference?
Oh. No doubt...
Exactly the point I was trying to make.
<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home D
And my point is that McCain didn't need or want a cleaner--he wanted a noname so that he (McCain) stands out. With the overanalyzation (cannot spell that word), sending Palin would've taken the focus away from McCain.

I guess the point we're trying to make is that when you send in a no-one as a cleaner, anything they say won't get picked up in the news cycle tomorrow--a McCain spinmeister can only really say things like "McCain nailed X, hit his points on Y" etc. ?When you send in a someone like Biden, you are accepting, or even hoping, that the message he gets out will augment your own.?

No I get that. And I think that is precisely my point. It's telling they don't want Palin quotes picked up tomorrow. Tis all. It seems we all agree.
"Cleaner" wasn't my word--I picked it up from you!
<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home D
And my use of the word "cleaner" was in response to Yeah, who talked of someone needing to "clean up." Not anything you said.
