Do you have a TV in the bedroom?

Re: Do you have a TV in the bedroom?

  • DH and I were having this very talk last night.

He wants one in the room. I do not. We shall see who wins

  • We do.

I'm not a huge fan of it though.  I could do without one in the bedroom, but DH really wants it there.  Ideally, we'd have a TV but in some sort of way to hide it (like an armoire or something)

  • We have one in the bedroom. I didn't care for it at first but now that DH has found a love for video games and can play for hours it comes in handy when I want to watch something.
  • We do.

We leave it on at night for light and I like to have sound. I can't sleep in pitch black silence.

  • We used to, but NEVER used it, so now we don't.
  • We do and D watches adult swim on it every single night of life.  And he wonders why there is no sexy time. Tongue Tied
  • We don't and I don't see at any point that we ever will.  The bedroom (for us) is just for the two S's  sleeping & sex.Big Smile

  • I refuse.  I can't sleep with the tv on.  And I want the bedroom to stay a sanctuary.

Although sometimes I wish we did so I could watch my shows while he plays video games.

  • Hells no! If N and I had a religion, having a tv in the bedroom would be against it.
  • We do.  We maybe turn it on for 20 minutes while we're reading before going to sleep.

We don't generally have our sexy time right before bedtime, so it doesn't interfere.

Sierra, more proof we were seperated at birth!

I was the same way when I met DH but he HATED the TV so he bought me a sleep machine from brookstone that has ambient light and plays white noise.  Works like a charm! So no TV in the bedroom.

  • Yes.  I set the sleep timer and attempt to make it through the local news at 11 and he likes the Today show on in the morning while he is getting ready.  Sometimes, I go in the bedroom to watch something if he has something on the living room tv.

  • Yep.  We get ready in our room in the morning and like the news on there.  Its not on much at night, maybe while we're getting H ready to go down for the night.

DH and I both can't tolerate silence.  I need noise.  Radios and TVs are constantly in our house.  We are a drain on energy.  I couldn't study in college w/o a TV on so I always missed late nights in the library.  TOO quiet!

  • No! Oddly, I used to when I lived by myself - the light and the noise helped me sleep. But when DH is out of town, I turn on the night-light and radio. Weird. But living in Jacksonville made me scared to be home at night sometimes b/c I worked nights and we lived in an okay area, but not the best (like, neighbor's vehicle stolen in broad daylight). We moved out of the city, and I feel safer, but I haven't lost that fear yet. Getting better though.

I think hubby and I will join this religion too!

  • We do because M sometimes well a lot of the time hogs
the tv in the living room cause he's
    an @sshole.
(can you tell I'm not happy with him
    right now?)

It's a good one! New members are welcome! All ages, races, genders, backgrounds, etc are welcome!

  • We did, but when I kicked DH and his Xbox to the basement, that tv went along.  I'm fine with that, I've read studies that having a TV in the bedroom is bad for sleeping habits.

This is why we DO have one in our bedroom!

  • We do, but hardly ever use it! We forgot to have the tv guy set it up when we switched providers... So we only watch movies if anything on it.

  • We do but hardly use it.  It is nice to be able to lay in bed sometimes and watch it though.
  • We do but it's not used a whole lot. If we're both up at the same time in the mornings I like to watch the news while I get ready and depending on how tired I am it goes on for a few minutes while I get ready for bed at night.

I also can't sleep in total silence and neither can DH so we have a fan going at night 365 days a year. It also helps prevent the room from getting too hot a night (which causes me migraines). We even have a small one we bring with us when we go to other people's house to stay overnight lol.

Whether or not you find your own way, you're bound to find some way. If you happen to find my way, please return it, as it was lost years ago. I imagine by now it's quite rusty.”

  • We do, as of a couple weeks ago.  I've been very happy with it.

  • We don't. I couldn't sleep with one in there, and DH would stay up all night watching TV. It's best to just keep it in the living room.
