SIL's bridal shower is this weekend and of course I've waited until the last minute. EVERYTHING on her registries has been purchased.
I'd prefer not to give money or GC. (We typically give a gift for showers, and money for the wedding). So....I need ideas for what to get her!
BTW - if any of you were wondering about my post from a few weeks ago - I did talk to SIL about why her Mom didn't invite anyone from our side. Apparently the shower is way expensive and her mom is paying for it 100%. For whatever reason she didn't tell my MIL that she'd like her to chip in so they could invite more ppl and MIL didn't think to offer. I just found that out a couple of days ago, so I didn't tell MIL. At this point, I'm not sure I should...I really want to stay out of it!
Anyhoo - thanks for any gift advice ladies!
Re: Bridal Shower gift help
1. a wine basket -- I heard of a great idea where you get 5-6 wines and label them w/a tag that denotes them for a special event. Unfortunately I lost it when my hardrive crashed this year. Maybe someone has it. It was definitely a cute idea. The events were: wedding night, first fight, first home, first anniversary, baby and I think there were a few more in there.
We gave DH's cousin and her DH a wine themed gift w/a corkscrew, a bottle of wine, an ice bucket, and a few other little things.
2. My mom always gives a wooden salad bowl set w/tongs, big bowl, and several wooden bowls. It's something that no one thinks of and she LOVES hers!
I think those are all the ideas I have now...considering it's almost midnight.
Great suggestions above, especially the wine basket. You could also get her something just for her, like a gift set of lotions and beauty stuff from Sephora.
I usually give brides an emergency Day Of bag - I find a cute purse or small bag and fill it with all the stuff they might need on the day of the wedding. Needle & thread, extra pair of panty hose, Tide to-go pen, deoderant, clear nail polish, bobby pins, travel size hairspray, masking tape, etc.
1. Give her a non-traditional gift if she's been living on her own for a while. I put a bunch of non-kitchen/non-housewares stuff on my registry and everyone just went for the traditional stuff. Examples are cool things for their pet, power tools, lawn/garden stuff. Whatever fits her personality.
2. We got a wine set from bottlenotes.com. Three wines: one for wedding day/honeymoon, one for 1st anniversary, one that ages well for the 5th anniversary. It was nice having a "present" to look forward to.
3. A big basket of things you can never have too many of: chip clips, wine stoppers, silicone tongs, silicone spatulas, other kitchen gadgets.
4. A something-of-the-month. Like cookies of the month, beer of the month, steak of the month. Add a note that
