What to serve with coffee mid-day?

DH and I are kicking off a "coffee house" lecture series at our record store this Sunday and I don't know what kind of food we should get to serve with coffee. If you were going to see someone talk about music at 3:00 on a Sunday, what would you want for a snack? DH was thinking about serving pastries or bagels, but I don't know if that is too breakfast-y. Any ideas? Oh, and it has to be something bought since I don't have the time or inclination to make anything.

p.s. if any of you want to come to the lecture on Sunday (at 3:00, and our store is on S. Congress), you are all invited. It's free and the topic is soul music. Email me if you want more info: deejaymimi at yahoo

Re: What to serve with coffee mid-day?

  • Dessert.  Fruit dessert-y things.  Tarts.  Biscotti.

What do you order at your favorite coffee shop?

    Ohhh- CUPCAKES!!!

Yes, I did just answer my own question.   Smile

  • Biscotti.  Desserts.  Cupcakes, little tarts or pies, maybe some bread and cheese?
  • any kind of finger foods I think would work - from cheese + crackers to fruit and cookies.

p.s. HEB has pretty decent party trays - I've purchased quite a few of the cheese cubes/veggie + dip/fruit ones.  they aren't terribly pretty (they're on plastic trays) but if you care and want to put them on nicer trays it might make it a bit fancier. ;)  they only need 24 hrs to put them together.

  • I think lemon bars or baklava would be great, because they're not the same old things you see every time. That's very cool of you guys to even offer that. Sounds like a neat event.

    It's Friends of Sound. :)

I figured it would not really be against the rules to invite people who might b interested since it's a free event.
