Having a surprise party for DH

Wednesday was my DH's 40th birthday. On Sunday I'm throwing a surprise party for him. It is going to be a pizza party (his favorite food) with about 20 friends and family.

I'm going to a scrapbook convention with a friend on Saturday and we are spending the night and coming home on Sunday.  I told him we were stopping at the outlet mall on the way back so won't be home until late afternoon. We're going to get back early and go to the restaurant and decorate and stuff like that.

My friend is driving and my plan was to have him meet my friend and me at the pizza place so he could pick me up.

He is kind of ticked that I'm leaving for the weekend. He keeps telling me its his birthday weekend and I'm abandoning him....yeah a little dramatic huh!?!

The other night he was going through my coat pocket and came across the menu for the restaurant I'm having the party at. I used it to order all the food in advance. He kept asking me why I had it especially since I don't like pizza (sorry I'm not un American it just gives me very bad heartburn for some reason). I told him I picked it up at work and was thinking of us going there some time. Not sure if he really believes me or not but I'm hoping it is will be a nice surprise for him.

Three days into being 40 years old and he isn't taking it too well!  Probably didn't help when I pointed out that he is halfway to 80. Unfortunately I will probably get paid back in December when I turn the big 40....yep I'm an oldie in the group.

I am a weirdo that doesn't like pizza either.  I also don't like french fries and everyone thinks I am nuts so you are NOT alone. =)

Ya know, I think I woulda been pissy if you told me I was half way to 80 too. lol

Sweet idea, I am sure he will love it.  Let us know how it goes and take pictures so we can see the old man. =)

  • Ahhh... just an fyi-there are TWO more of 'us' that are turning 39 and 12 months this year, so you aren't alone!

Sounds great, though... I'd love to have a surprise party for my 39+12, but I doubt I'll get it as we're going away (we'd better-may need the FF vent -Sheri!?! where are you?!? Hope you're feeling better!)... a few days after I turn 12 months... ;)

I'm just glad MY dh is older! 1/2 way to 80... wow... that DOES sound old! GAH!

  • Karrey, are you all set for your appointment today? Just from the little I read it sounds like this has been such a hard struggle for you and I'm so happy you found a RE that you are comfortable with.

DH told me last night how much he wants a child and doesn't care how much it costs or what we have to do to have one. Unfortunately it never is that easy is it. I'm hoping we will be able to try again in April.

Keeping my fingers crossed for good news for you!

I am.  Well, at least as ready as i am going to be.  I have been a little crampy since yesterday so that has be a bit hesitant but I know that the only way we are going to get anywhere is with me doing this so here goes.....

I didn't realize how excited D was about it until his Mom emailed me saying he called her to tell her how awesome the new Dr. was.  It's funny how things change.

Is there any new progress with you guys are far as next steps go?  I know a little of what you are dealing with but I didn't know if there was a game plan.  I hope that your journey is short, I know what a mess it can be and it really does just suck the life right out of you.

Thanks for the crossed fingers and well wishes.

My HSG wasn't too bad. It was uncomfortable at first but not horrible. I took some advil an hour or so before and I think that may have helped. I had some cramping the rest of the day but that was over by the next day.

I'm taking Metformin for the diabetes and supposed to be exercising and watching my diet...that kind of went to crap when I found out about my job situation but I am back on the bandwagon for that.
