Interview advice

So my interview was last wednesday. It went SO well, I thought I had this in the bag. They told me they'd make a decision in about a week. I was so confident at first, but now I'm GOING INSANE!! I sent out a handwritten thank you card the next day. They are in the process of moving to a new building, so I know they've got a lot on their plate right now, but I just want to knowwww! DH & I are so tired of our lives being on hold and this job would be a fresh start in a new city. They took the job posting down yesterday, which makes me even more nervous. Should I call later today or wait until monday? Email? I about broke my leg running for the phone yesterday, stupid telemarketer...

Re: Interview advice

  • I might call today to follow up and check on the status of your application. It will remind them you exist and if they're complete and total idiots and you didn't get the job, then at least you'll know.
  • How utterly frustrating!

I might call or just wait until Monday.  Did they get snow out there?  I know I did, but... if they were also 'off', it might delay everything...

Hmm that's true, but they are a husband & wife team! I don't think they got much snow in Harrisburg though.

  • Girl, I feel your pain!! With the first job I interviewed for, they told me that they would make their decision by the end of the week, and then didn't call to let me down until Monday. I spent the entire day Friday feeling like I was about to have a freakin' heart attack. With this last one, they waited until Friday afternoon to call and offer the job. Nothing like the last minute, people!

I waited the first time, but I had actually called and left a message for the recruiter the second time. If I were you, I think I would call this afternoon. If someone tells an applicant they will make a decision by a certain time, then they should have the courtesy to call by the deadline, even if it's to let you know that the decision is being held up by something, or to let you know that they are going with another candidate!

I'm keeping everything crossed for you that you get this job, and that your phone rings with the good news in the next 10 minutes!!

  • I would wait out the weekend and give them a call on afternoon. If you're still in the running, you don't want to pester them.

I know it stinks, but hang in there and hopefully your patience will be worth it!
