the house is alive with the sound of nerdery

Ben is having a mini-LAN at our house today...8 computer monitors, 6 CPUs, 5 IT nerds, 2 BBQs...and a partridge in a pear tree. Stick out tongue

I've taken refuge in the nursery - I need to go through all of our stuff (everything from MIL and from my work shower earlier this week) and figure out what we still need. I think we're set except for diapers and some random stuff like a pump. The clock is ticking!

  • Make sure you account for the Cosby sweater.  You wouldn't want that to get lost!  Stick out tongue

Which reminds me, I owe you a picture!

It's so exciting to see you getting soooo close.  Smile  It sounds like you and Ben are pretty much all ready for the twins.  John and I, on the other hand, eeek, we've still got a lot to do!  Even with just one bebeh, it seems overwhelming at times.   I have to say that you and Ben rock for keeping your sanity through all this baby prep x2

    Yes you do!

And trust me, I'm not that calm or sane about any of this. Most of the time, I feel SO overwhelmed with all that we still have to do or buy...but then I remind myself, all these babies need is a place to sleep, diapers to wear and something to eat. If I can't get everything else done in time (like actually decorating the nursery, that kind of thing), it's OK, it will work out.

I am so happy that you are having a great attitude about things now, not that it was bad before, but it sounds like your stress level has increasingly decreased.  Big Smile

I have to be honest - not working has helped a lot. I mean a LOT. It's so hard to describe what a mental effect the physical stress has. So now even though I'm still getting up 4x a night and am exhausted and in pain and feeling pretty over it all, I can cope a lot better.

  • Lisa, you never cease to crack me up!  I am now humming "the house is alive with the sound of nerdery" to the Sound of Music.  LMAO!  So glad to hear that not working has helped your stress level - it makes a world of difference and I'm sure the babies can feel the difference.

Speaking of nerdery....like how I invited you to one of those house parties you hate via FB?  Stick out tongue

  • THat's awesome Lisa!  We need pics of the nerdiness!  And the nursery!
  • Lisa, one of our friends hosts Game-apalooza every spring.  This consists of many, many dudes bringing their own Xboxes AND televisions to his house, and they play video games all day long.  Those who can't be in the house join the fun via the interwebs.  Last year J got talked into going, even though he wasn't a video game guy... well, to make a long story short, he is now.  Oh, the joys of man-nerdery!  It's adorable (sometimes).

Also, your saying that babies only need X, X, and X reminds me of a dream I once had... I was going into labor and realized I had nothing, and I mean NOTHING, for the baby.  So I dragged J to Target to stock up on the way to the hospital, and my BFF ran into us there and told me not to worry about it because "babies pretty much take care of themselves".

Amy - I totally wanted to RSVP a big fat YES! to your FB-vite party.  Once again, foiled by distance.  Grrr.  I love Pampered Chef.  Or, to be more specific, I like Pampered Chef and I love friends and wine :)

i am glad that you are feeling better emotionally now - i'm glad you don't have to work anymore!
