F/U... A HOLE Neighbor (long)

Thankyou everyone for letting me vent last week about my dogs and the next door neighbor.

Construction has continued at the neighbors and so have the complaints about my dogs barking "all the time".  I was home sick on Monday and Tuesday and my Dogs were inside with me the entire time.  Bosley barked a couple times but settled down when I asked him to, it was maybe 2 or 3 barks all day.

Wednseday came around and I was back at work, Bosley was inside the house and George was tied up outside.  At the end of the day I was in a meeting (MH and I work at the same school) and MH got another call from the landlord about the neighbor complaing about the Dogs again.  While in my meeting I heard a dog bark and thought...gee that sounds a lot likt George, after an hour goes by I walk past MH's office and there is Bosley sitting on the chair in front of MH's desk like one of the students getting scolding....it was too cute LOL I wish I had my camera.  School was over already so it wasn't a bigdeal :)

When Hubs got home to pick the boys up, both dogs were calm and actually sleeping, which was the case when I went to pick them up last week.  So it just so happens the neighbor was in his yard and MH decided to have a talk with him.  MH greets him (he's boiling but remains subdued) nicely and appologizes for the Dogs behavior.  MH continues to ask him about the construction and if that is when the barking occurs and the neighbor admits to that but also adds that it is not only then and that it is all the time for the past few months especially when we are not home.....ok that's fair and may be.  But then, the neighbor adds that the past few days they have been constant.  MH tells the neighbor really? Because my wife was home sick....then the neighbor back paddles and says maybe not yesterday but the day before.....oh my wife has been home sick this entire week.  So at this point MH is irate and tells the neighbor well there are options we have to work this out, 1 we could get rid of the Dogs and the neighbor jumps in saying Oh that would be great.  MH hands him his card and tells the neighbor from now on to call him directly, there is no need to call the landlords since it is our Dogs not them and we can handle the situation directly and walks away.....

MH tells me the story and I knew that when we moved in this guy was not happy that we had a Dog and had grumbled to me about the Landlord getting a Dog and I informed him it was our Dog.....he can't steal stuff anymore cause we have 2 dogs the Landlord has 1 and now the landlords Daughter has been staying with them and she has a dog to :)

So for our piece of mind and less stress for our Dogs we have decided to drop them off at MIL everyday when we are at work.  MIL is happy to dog sit for us, but at the same time it is so iritating that this AHOLE can dictate our lives.

Seriously?  No Mr. Neighbor, that is your cue to say "no no..let's not be hasty.  I am sure we can figure this out"  He really sounds like a piece of work.   Thank goodness you have an option & can bring the pups to MIL's, but completely ridiculous that you have to!

  • Your neighbor sounds like an old crusty curmudgeon.  I'm sorry he's being so uncooperative and that your 'solution' required absolutely zero compromise on his part but I'm glad that your dogs will have a nicer and happier place to be during the day while you guys are at work.

If I lived on Maui, I would totally LOVE to dogsit your furbabies while shooting your neighbor stinkeye the whole entire time.  Stick out tongue

  • I can't believe what a cranky old ass your neighbor is being! I'm sorry that the solution didn't really involve him actually compromising, but like Lisa said, I'm glad that your dogs will have a friendly, happy place to stay now while you guys are away.
  • MH and I were talking today at lunch about how we are both relieved that Mom will be watching them.  Even before the complaints started we always tried to rush home after work to take care of the boys.  We always worried about them and now they will be supervised all day everyday and won't be alone and will have a yard to run around in.  MH's sister, her girlfriend and brother live at home with mom and they all enjoy the dogs and will be spending time with them. MH mentioned that when he picked the Dog's up yesterday MIL was really enjoying them and that she actually treats them "like grandchildren" it's pretty funny and adoring :)
  • Sucks to have such a jerky neighbor but sounds like "grandma" and the furbabies are enjoying it! This might create a whole different problem though... spoiled grand-doggies!!! lol I bet they're lovin' all the attention. Much better problem to have...well loved dogs!Big Smile
