Hello Ladies!
I am from Houston and DH might be moving with his company to Dallas. We just moved to Texas 4 years ago from the east coast. I've never been to Dallas and we don't know anything about neighborhoods and areas to live. Could you please give me some type of direction as to where the nicer areas to live in are? We don't have any children right now, but will start a family in the next few years so we would want an area with good schools. Thanks so much!!
Re: Areas to Live in Dallas
Ditto! I am also new to the area but I love the Plano/Frisco area. We do not have kids yet but all the schools (elementry, middle and high) we are zoned to from our home are exemplary as are most in Plano/Frisco
I agree with the others. You're really going to want to know where he'll be located before you really pick a place to live. Unless you're cool with a 1-2 hour commute
Greatschools.net is a good resource for schools in the area.
..and I third this! We have been in Frisco about a year and love it!
PP's are spot on about knowing where you'll be working first. You don't want to have a ridiculous commute every day. LOVE Plano/Frisco though.
As for the Dallas v. Houston thing, I prefer Dallas, but I've always lived here. We still have traffic, but I don't feel like it's as bad. We looked at moving to Houston, but I felt like we either had to pay ridiculous prices to live close to downtown, or drive an hour to and from work every day. I like that in Dallas you can have a reasonable commute and still pay a reasonable price for your home/apartment. All I know is that I have friends in Houston, and every time we visit, I'm thankful I don't live there. Not really sure why!

I usually lurk on this, and I fourth this!
Frisco is amazing!
I grew up near Houston and now live in Dallas. I definitely prefer Dallas! I just think the people are friendlier, the weather is better (not quite as hot and humid here), and it's easy to get around.
My husband and I live in Dallas, but definitely want to move out of the city when we have kids. I know you can get an awesome house for the price if you go way out, like Royce City. Just depends how far you want to commute.
