Hi ladies,
This might be jumping the gun a little, but I have a job interview next week in Wake Forest, and I have a very good feeling about things. If this works out, DH and I would be relocating from the Charlotte area this spring.
DH will likely go back to school this fall, and he is looking at the computer programs at Wake Technical College. He will just be working part time somewhere random while he's in school, so we can be very flexible in where we live.
We want to rent a house somewhere where we'll each have under a 45 minute drive, which might be hard since I'll be on the north side of Raleigh and he'll be on the south side. We don't have kids, and want to be close to stores/restaurants. Any ideas? Thanks!
Re: Might be moving to Wake County - where to rent?
I'm not sure about houses, but when I first moved here, I lived in Mariner's Crossing in northwest Raleigh. It's right near Crabtree Valley Mall and real close to highway 70 (Glenwood Ave) and 540. You could easily take 540 to Wake Forest and your DH could take 70/Glenwood through downtown to 401/South Saunders Rd. Wake Tech is off 401. There are some other apt complexes in that area too, but I'm not sure of the names. I live fairly close to Wake Tech and it take me about 30 minutes to get to Crabtree. I loved living in that area. There's a bunch of stuff around there besides the mall.
Another option might be places off Capital Blvd, but I would be careful in some areas out that way. That would pretty much be a straight shot to work and school for you both.
That's the area of Mariner's Crossing too. I didn't know it was now called midtown.
Also wanted to add that when DH and I now go to Wake Forest, it's definitely a drive. I would say it's a good 45 minutes (with weekend traffic) and with traffic during commute times, it could be a lot worse.
