DH bought a rainbow vac (against my wishes) when we were dating. So now we are the "proud" owners of a pain-in-the-ass vacuum that cleans well but is back breaking to use. I need an upright vacuum that will work on carpet and wood flooring.
I thought I wanted a dyson but after reading the reviews I'm not so sure anymore. I am open to any brand so if you like your vac please let me know the pros & cons.
Thanks for your help!
Re: Recommend your vacuum!
We have a Dyson Pet vac and I love it. Granted it was a hand-me-down so it's not in perfect condition. One of the parts is missing so I can't use the attachments, so I don't know how well that part works. I use it on my carpet, hardwood, and tile floors and it works great.
My last vaccum I had started losing suction after only a year. I think it was a Bissell or Dirt Devil. We got the Dyson used and have had it for over 2 years now with no suction problems and we have 2 dogs that shed a lot.
Cons: It is large and kind of heavy, not easy to lug up and down stairs but we have a ranch. Also, it doesn't swivel like the new ones so it can be difficult to get into tight corners. I usually use my hand vac around trim and spaces the vac can't get.
Whenever this one goes (which I think will be a while) I'm definitely getting another Dyson.

I made DH get up on Black friday last year to go out with me at 4 AM to target to get our dyson animal - it was on SUPER sale and totally worth the money! It sucks up cat litter and dog hair like a champ and even DH has said how much the new vacuum was worth it.
