Sorry I haven't been on, its been a heck of a week.
Monday I sat down with my boss and had a serious heart-to-heart. He had spent the previous week at huge veterinary convention and attended a lot of classes on practice management, etc. He FINALLY admitted that he has been making things difficult, that things have to change, etc. I told him I was giving notice and he asked me to give him 30 days to "turn this ship around." After 30 days if things are not better, I will leave. I agreed to stay only because I know in my heart that this practice has the potential to be great---and he gave me additional benefits that will really help us out financially at home.
Things have been better, but also much more hectic. I was negotiating with another DVM for an associate position in our practice, but that didn't work out. We desperately need a second DVM so I'm going to keep looking. We have a huge adoption and open house event coming up that I have been knee deep in marketing . . . it just never ends.
On a good note, the really PITA employee was put in her place this week and has been minding herself ever since. Its still difficult to deal with her, but much more manageable now that the DVM has gotten behind me.
Plus, Bebe can now sit up and is so much more mobile with crawling and rolling around . . . its so much fun to come home and just lay on the floor with her for an hour. Thank goodness for R's support and Bebe's sunny smile or I would be a basket case!
Re: Update . . .
Hope things turn around and you get to stay!!
Can't believe Bebe is mobile!
I was wondering where you were....I hope that the next 30 days will be a great imporvment and that life for you is WAY less stressful!
This! Keep us posted...and YAY for bebe being mobile!!
I hope he does turn things around. If he doesn't, stick to your guns and get out. I worked for a doctor once who was completely insane, she never kept anyone over 3-4 months. I was there almost a year and gave notice. She begged, pleaded, promised things would change, so I stayed. Within 2 weeks, it was the same ol' routine, so I walked.
Do what is best for you and your family.
Wow! I'm glad you had a heart to heart... I hope things turn around and it's not just a temporary fix. I'm glad you stuck to your guns and talked with him... I hope there's great improvement!!!
And, per Wendi... "do what is best for you and your family!"
