Q about Blood Center of Central Texas
I just got a call from a nice lady there thanking me for a past donation and saying they are in need of my blood type. I have A- which is on the rare side. I'm fine with donating, but I'm just curious if anyone knows - do they really just call when they are in need of your blood type? Or is it just something they say when they want more people to donate in general.

I bet they need your blood type and that's why they called. Even if there's an across the board shortage, they need to start with the greatest need. They can't just call everyone who's donated before back.
I would also imagine they aren't getting nearly as many donations since they changed the requirements.
