1st anniversary - such an awesome day

I have to say I think I had the best day ever overall, but there were definitely some ups and downs. We spent Saturday night in the hotel we got married in. The dinner was awesome and there were a dozen roses, chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of champagne in the room. It was nice, and very romantic.

Sunday, the official anniversary was really great too. I got to watch the Canadian team bring home the gold in the most exciting hockey game I have ever EVER seen. I was laughing and smiling when the US got the tying goal to send it to overtime (amid a crowd of Americans cheering so loud in a local sports bar).

And then I got to watch the medal ceremony and proudly sing my national anthem (still in a room full of Americans LOL)

of course there were a few moments of sadness. It would have been my mom's 50th birthday. and the stupid P&G mom commercials have been bringing tears to my eyes all through the whole Olympics. And of course, Joannie Rochette, the Canadian figure skater who's mom died last Sunday, was chosen to be the flag bearer for the closing ceremonies, and every time they showed her face, or showed clips of her skating, I wound up in tears too.

It was such a fantastic day overall tho. I cannot imagine any other anniversary being as memorable as this first one!

  • So glad you had a great day!! I'm a little (okay - a LOT) bummed that the US hockey team lost to the Canadians, but I'm glad that you were able to enjoy the victory:)

Sorry for your moments of sadness during the day, but so glad you had DH to share those with you as well. Happy AnniversaryParty!!!

  • Glad you had such a great anniversary. I know it was hard with all the reminders of your mom, but what great memories you have of her and what a great way to honor her by getting married on her birthday!
  • Aww glad you had such a good day Jennie. I won't lie, those mom commercials have had me tearing up the whole time, so I can't imagine what you must have been feeling. I am also a bit upset about the loss, but at least they put up a fight
