My coworker has her email alert on her Blackberry set to a song. Not a beep, an annoying little song. So everytime she gets an email (which in her role is ALL DAY LONG) I have to listen to this freaking annoying jingle. So finally I confront her:
Me: What is with the jingle going off all day every day?
Her: It's the alert for the company emails I get
Me: Why do you need it on at your desk?
Her: Because I am concerned that a customer could call my cell phone
Me: Ok, why do you need the email alert on?
Her: :walks away from me::
Because you don't know how to use your phone! I freaking hate you today! If you need me to silence your emails and set you up to hear only phone calls, I can help with that!
Otherwise if you are SOOOO concerned about getting a cell call from a customer AT LEAST take your phone with you when you leave your office for hours. I F*cking hate you! If not you are going to come back to little tiny bits of phone smashed all over your desk!
I work with a huge slacker. HUGE.
She never works. Like she COMES to work but she doesn't actually DO anything. And her job consists of answering an email box and a phone. But they get SO backed up she has to work "overtime" all the freaking time. WHY do they get backed up? because she spends ALL freaking day complaining about how people want her to do her job and how they complain when she doesn't get them stuff "right away" (even though they'd send an email on like Monday and by Wednesday be like um where's my crap but she's "busy"). She's on the phone with her kid all damn day and btw the kid is a teenager and IN SCHOOOL. WTF. Might want to tell the kid to pay attention in school so she doesn't end up like a dumbass the way you did!
Worst part? My boss freaking loves her because she works "all the time" because he doesn't pay enough attention to realize that if she worked for the 8 hours she's at the office she wouldnt have to clock another full day at home (or at least she wouldnt have to pretend to!).
Yay, today is a perfect day for this thread.
Backstory: Coworker A does not like Coworker B. A has always been competitive with B, and takes everything B does as a personal sleight or insult. It's really unprofessional and immature. B can be know-it-all-ish, but it's not anything to take personally like A does.
Anyway, today the intern convinced me that we should go out for Mexican, and so I invited the others in my department. B doesn't usually go out to lunch with us, but since everyone was coming, I asked him because I try to be professional and not be outright rude. A was outside on a smoke break and came back in when we were all getting ready to go. A was going to go until she saw that B was going and then made up an excuse and stayed.
I really wish A would just get over it. She has at least one rant about him every day and no one else has any issues with him. She fails to see that she is the problem, not B.

so this maternity leave/return/annual raise talk is all happening right now. BLAH
last week he got so mad at me for telling him that i'm coming back less than full-time (probably like 70%). i reminded him that he offered that to me in December and I accepted it. he said he didn't realize i had accepted it and never thought i would b/c he didn't think i'd be able to afford it with TJ being laid off and all. WTF. then he said i better "hope there is a lot of work b/c i might not have a job when i want to come back" then later that day he came down to my office with tears in his eyes b/c he feels he is being hard on me now. ??????
then he told me he would only consider paying me *something* during my maternity leave if i told him how much MY PERSONAL DISABILITY POLICY IS PAYING ME THAT I PAY FOR COMPLETELY BY MYSELF. i told him its none of his business.
then he said he would pay me maternity leave when i come back, break it up over my paychecks from july - december, but not pay me during my actual leave in case i don't come back.
and a bunch of other craziness i won't even get into, and its still going on, nothing has been resolved yet.
