Hey friend! Random question for you. I am also waiting for my dr to call me back but not sure I will hear today. I've got a minor concussion how long till I can go back to the gym? Nothing intense, no lifting just some good wholesome cardio. I am already getting hyperactive and stir crazy and its been 24 hours since the ball off the face.
Re: bobsbride
Tell me about your injury. . .did you lose consciousness? Blurry vision? Any memory loss?
Most people over-diagnose "concussion." For a true concussion (loss of consciousness and /or neuro symptoms. . .including prolonged headache. . .you shouldn't do any contact sports for several weeks. If you get another concussion, you can get brain damage. For just going to the gym, you'd be fine. Hope you're feeling ok!
Thanks for the advise! My dr said same thing...she said give it a day or so but Ill be fine. CT showed a small crack in my eye socket bone (I am sure there is a real name but who knows) but it will heal and its very minor.
eye socket bone=orbital rim fracture (in case you want to impress your friends). The look very painful.
What did you get hit with?
The ball....our short stop came in during practice to get a ground ball from the pitchers mound and we were practicing turning double plays. He threw it home (with some serious force) and I miss calculated where it was going to land and got drilled in the face. I did stop the ball (clearly) and it was nicely sitting on home plate when I came back to.
It was special and my face swelled up instantly. I probably should have gone to the ER yesterday when it happened but I was not a fan of paying $200 to hear that I busted up my face when my PCP could tell me the same thing today when I got the swelling down a little so they could actually pry my eye open to check for vision damage.
