Help me pick out a camera

I decided to ask MH for a camera for my birthday gift as I've been using his a lot and would love one of my own. We went looking the other day and I liked both the Cannon Powershot and the Nikon Coolpix. I saw though that the Nikon didn't get great reviews. I'd like something very simple with very few buttons.

Re: Help me pick out a camera

  • I love my Nikon. It's the Nikon Coolpix L100, it takes beautiful pictures, and it is super easy to use. I got it in September for my birthday, and it's great. The batteries last forever too, which I love because the last camera I had drained batteries incredibly quickly. I don't have any other experience with any other cameras, so I am not really sure, but I do love this camera.

  • I think DH got it from Best Buy for about $150.

  • I adore my Powershot! It's really user friendly and takes awesome pictures!!!
  • Hi Belle!

Canon is the only brand of camera I buy. My mom currently has a powershot and it was what I owned previously. I loved mine as does my momma. Just an fyi, she's not very tech savvy and she operates it with not a single problem. Very user friendly and easy.

Ali, I looked for this camera when I was shopping but couldn't find it at Best Buy?

Belle, I've heard great things about both Canon and Nikon brands.  I ended up with the Canon PowerShot and so far, so good.  It's pretty user friendly.

LOVE Canon cameras. I've had two powershots and have been very happy with them. I'd still be using my old powershot happily if my Mom didn't buy us the Canon as a wedding gift. :)

I know he picked it up from the Best Buy in BR, he made me stay in the car when he went to pick it up, that's the only reason I know where it came from. I wonder if they aren't carrying it anymore, idk. It's a pretty new camera.

  • I have a Nikon coolpix point and shoot and it's like 5 years old.  It's soooo freaking slow to take the pictures.  They may have improved on that now, but that's my only complaint.

That said, I have used one of my friends powershot and it was pretty great!
