I feel like the Olympics have been my companion since Kaya was born and I'm sad they're over! And I miss Apolo already.

I've been a fan(atic) since '02 and I hate that this was probably his last Olympics.
Re: So sad Olympics are over
*whispers*
Confession: I didn't watch any (and by any, I mean not one minute, not one single second) of the Olympics this year. In my defense, we have to replace some piece of cabling or another on our TV right now because we can't get a signal, so it's not like I could have watched it anyway...but I also didn't even try to make the effort.
*hangs head in shame*
I am so with you. Chris and I were sick for about a week right after Valentine's Day. While stuck in bed all day trying to recover we would watch all the curling and hockey during the day. And for late-night we would have "Olympic sleepovers" where we would sit in bed and watch all the events. It was so fun!
The winter Olympics are my favorite too. I can't wait until 2014!
BTW - I think my fav athlete was Alpine Skier Aksel Svindal. And the story of the Canadian guy who won their first gold, along with the ice skater Joannie still bring tears to my eyes.
I love Hawaii!

It was a great game. If the US couldn't win, I'm glad it was Canada. The US team looked so defeated, but they should be proud they won a silver medal!
Thanks, same here. It was so incredibly close, I wasn't sure who was going to win... it was anyone's game
The US goalie sure impressed me, he's going places for sure.

The city sure came alive! It was really great to experience. Yesterday coming back from Whistler we decided to detour through downtown, after the gold medal hockey game. Complete strangers hugging one another and even high fiving us in our car as we drove by. There were so many honking horns, that we could not even hear the music playing,
There was so many wonderful highlights of these Games. I have to admit whenever they would show the Canadian flag waving and anthem being sung, really brought tears to my eyes. Good times
I miss them, too! I love the winter and summer Olympics, so at least there's London to look forward to, and I think the games in Sochi will be really fun to watch.
My favorite moment this year wasn't even for a US athlete.
It was when Bilodeaux won Canada's first "home" gold medal. Oh my gosh, I cried!
And I was so happy for Canada's hockey team, but I wish the medal ceremony could've been held later in the evening. It was awesome to see the celebration in the arena, but it made me sad that the loss was so fresh for the US guys, they didn't even enjoy getting their medals. It's such a proud moment and they all looked shell-shocked.
Aw, you guys are all so polite! Are we giving up the raucus singing of Oh Canada already? I LOVE hockey. LOVE it. And I'm totally okay with the US loss!
I don't feel sorry for the team as a whole - just for Miller. He definitely deserved the MVP award - I mean, the game that Canada lost to the US, Canada had 42 shots on goal to the US's 22. So, it's not like the US defense or offense were playing particularly well - it was a goalie battle royale and we were definitely beat there.
I think what made the game exciting was the fact that we DID lose that first game. You couldn't have scripted that win better. There's a made for tv movie in the future there somewhere.
