NER: stupid airlines

Last year when I moved here, my dog's fare was $175.  Now, on most airlines it's 450 to 550!  Can you believe that?!  They're trying to tell me that it's "logical" that it costs $190 to go this direction and $420 to go the opposite direction on the same exact route on the same exact day.  No, it's not logical to charge more than 2x just b/c I'm leaving from Japan instead of flying into it.  In fact, it's so much easier to go to the US than go to Japan b/c Japan is rabies free, so I don't even have to provide documentation for customs.

I'm so frustrated right now. Oh, and H just mentioned to me that they stopped giving you free alcohol.  Now, 3 months ago when I flew back to the States, it was free.  Apparently that's changed?  Great, thanks for the good news.

  • What airline are you flying? ?The free-alcohol thing hasn't been cut out by all airlines yet.

Pretty much all American carriers, it has (in coach at least). Most European and some Asian carriers still serve free alcohol in coach.

That's what I always thought. ?I was shocked a month ago when Delta offered me a free drink with my meal.?

Nice! Maybe it was some kind of special promotion or situation? I know that as a normal policy, they charge $5 (or is it $6?) for alcoholic drinks.

Yeah, it's $5 or $6. ?I think that maybe the reason they did it was because of the Skyteam? ?It was an Airfrance flight carried by Delta, so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it.?

Ohh could be. I know AirFrance doesn't charge for drinks. I looooove AirFrance (not just because of that, but it certainly adds to the love).

I giant puffy heart Air France. ?I will gladly suck it up and fly through Charles de Gaulle any day of the week if it means I can fly Air France.?

haha and that is saying a lot. That has got to be THE most poorly designed airport in the world (well, maybe second to JFK). I hate that place with a passion.

  • As do I. ?You need a three hour lay-over if you are going to switch terminals. ?

They once forgot about our plane and left us sitting in the tarmac waiting for steps to disembark for two hours. ?It's not only poorly designed, but poorly run as well.

    Surprise OMG!

  • I normally fly United, and I got free drinks last June/July.  But, I was also traveling to/from Japan on a codeshare with ANA and Thai Airways.

This whole situation is getting worse b/c my final destination is Phoenix, so I'm running into temp restrictions.  It has to be below 85 which doesn't happen until like midnight.  Ugh.  Does anyone in a cold city want a dog?  j/k But, damn, it shouldn't be this hard!
