Hello,
We are relocating to Greensboro and are looking for any information about the area, towns, school systems, things to do, cost of living... We have never been there so anything you share will be helpful.
Thank you.
Re: Relocating to Greensboro
We are relocating for a job right in Greensboro, we are coming from the Metro DC area and have a 2 and 3 year old.
Thanks,
Greensboro might seem downright cheap compared to the DC metro area. Traffic is also much lighter. Depending on where you live you can get to most places in 15-20 minutes. The weather is also warmer.
Do you have a place to live yet?
Hello,
We don't have a place to live yet - we will rent initially and would need somplace that is dog friendly - any suggestions on areas. We would look at both apartments and houses for rent.
Between my and my fiance we have lived in several apartments in GSO. Our favorite was Bridford Lake Apartment, which is off Wendover, the main commercial drag in town. Its far enough off the road that it is quiet, and there is a nice lake area and play area for kids. There were tons of dogs around, although we only had a cat. Management was super friendly, never had a problem with them at all (which is unusual around here). About 15 minutes to get downtown in the morning.
As for other apartment areas, avoid Market Street (a little sketchy), the area around Guilford College and Friendly (college students), and the area around UNC-G (if you look at a map you will see it, but big roads over there include Tate Street and Mendenall - also full of students). I would stay west of downtown to stay in the nicer areas.
House wise -- northwest GSO is the newer construction (Lake Jeanette area, etc). We just bought a house in Adams Farm, which is southwest. Lots of young families, but houses are about 15 years old, so not as new.
Good luck!
