Greg and I went looking last night to finally get new phones. He figured out which phone he wanted in all of 10 minutes, but I'm still stuck.
Right now, I use my phone only for talk & text, but when we resign a contract, I'll add a data plan and be able to use my phone for email and some web browsing. But I can't decide. ![]()
These are the phones I'm considering:
(Motorola Droid, which I actually like, but am having a hard time choking down paying so much for a phone, even though it offers EVERYTHING.)
(LG Chocolate Touch - she was out of them in store for me to look at and play around with. The only negative thing I know I am not sure about this phone is it doesn't have a slide-out keyboard. But for $120 LESS than the Droid? I can deal. There's just something about this phone, though, that kind of has me interested.)
(Last night I'd kind of ruled this one out, but now I keep thinking about it - the Motorola Devour. The main promo on this one vs the Droid is that the Devour syncs up all the social networking sites for you - so if you're my friend on MySpace and Facebook and I follow you on Twitter, it'd pull all of those together. Not a big key for me since I log into my MySpace maybe once a year and don't do anything on Twitter. I love the keyboard on this one compared to the Droid, but I'm not sure that's enough for me to decide. It's also $70 less than the Droid.)
I realize it's kind of a longshot for anyone to have an opinion on any of these, but I thought I'd give it a whirl.
Re: Phone Help
I have an opinion!
I have the Motorola Droid and I love it. However, I have only used the pull out keyboard twice since I got it. It's a nice feature to have but I've found it to be rather useless for me. I love the features of the Droid. However, i have a friend who has the Droid Eris by HTC and it is seriously the same phone, with no pull out keyboard. We have the same apps and can use it the same ways and she paid $100 less for her's. So if you really want the droid but don't like the price, I'd get the Eris (which I realize was not one of your options but it's a thought).
ETA: My BIL has the Chocolate Touch and hates it. He says the screen becomes nonresponsive sometimes and he's actually had to switch his out twice with the insurance. He plans on switching soon to one of the others you mentioned.
Thanks for the Chocolate Touch info! I'd be seriously P.O.ed!
I actually didn't like the Eris - it felt too light and was too rounded for me. Some reviews have said the Droid is a little heavy/big, but I actually don't mind that and think that might be one of the selling features for me. It feels more comfortable to use than the Eris.

The lady highly recommended we stick with Motorola or LG since we've had so many reception issues; so as a safeguard, we avoided Samsungs because she said they have the worst reception in the area.
I've been reading reviews on the Droid vs Devour and the Droid seems to win, hands down. Users dislike the keyboard (it's flat whereas they improved the Devour so the buttons are slightly domed), but if I don't end up using it... then who cares, right?
