I think DH & I are going to paint this weekend.
We've been in our house for almost 2yrs and have not painted a single room yet. Every room has white walls and I just can't stand it anymore!!
I'm not sure exactly which room we are going to start with yet, but I was kinda thinking maybe the living room. It's a fairly small room with a large front window, we also have a large brown sectional, red curtains, red accent pillows, & darker wood furniture.
Does anyone know a good website (besides HGTV) to get ideas? or does anyone have any photo inspirations?
Re: Need Ideas
I agree with Jenni - just spend the extra $ and use a quality paint and primer. Seriously, primer helps your paint go on so much nicer. We used Glidden in our house & love it! We used a Benjamin Moore paint in our bathroom and it was the worst paint ever. I don't know if we just got a bad batch or what, but it was super thin like water. We had to use 2 coats, and it could probably use 2 more. It was very disappointing. We are about to start reno-ing our bathroom, so we are going to repaint again. I would also suggest trying the green Frog tape. We haven't personally tried it, but apparently it runs circles around the blue painters tape.
I would highly recommend Glidden!
I don't know what colors you are into, but I really like lighter blue walls. We painted our living room a kind of sky blue color, with a little hint of grey in it. I love it. We have darker furniture also. I think it looks really chic.
Hahaha. I also know when we sell this place, we'll have to go back and repaint more neural colors, but until then we are enjoying our blue walls!
We just got done painting our whole house, so if you have any questions feel free to ask! We ran into just about every painting related issue you can imagine, including covering up dark chocolate brown walls.
I like young house love. They have some good painting ideas using colors & neutrals.
Um... you may have opened a can of worms here with me! LOL.
DITTO! I learned the hard way when it came to quality of paint. When we first moved into our home 5 yrs ago, we used a cheap paint for most of the rooms. After we wised up, we discovered Sherwin Williams. In fact, I have to go there tomorrow morning to pick up a gallon for the kitchen. If you get on their website, they have a visualizer tool and you can upload a photo of your room and then pick and choose which paint color would look best. Then you can PIP for us to see
Yes!! Frog tape is ah-mazing. They pulled it from all the stores awhile ago because they got sued because of something they said on the packaging. Sadly they haven't brought it back yet (at least none of the stores up here carry it). I heart that stuff.
Have fun. I just painted my living room a color called "chocolate froth." It's a very pale chocolately color and it sounds like something similar would be lovely with your furnishings. Also, be prepared for it to turn into a bigger project than you expect...it always does.
