and did you take a fabulous vacation? i'll be jealous, lol! but we are going to a B&B so i'm excited about that Big Smile

lastly, did you eat wedding cake from your freezer? if so, did it taste good?

Re: 1st anniversary

  • For our first anniversary DH got me a gift certificate to the Hershey Spa (my fave!) and I got him a handmade leather-bound sketch book.

Some paper ideas are: tickets to a sporting event or concert, a gift certificate (if you can find some place that gives paper gift certificates), a picture or print that he likes.

My DH's family owns a house in DE so we went down there for a few days for our 1st anny. I think a B&B sounds awesome! I hope you have a good time.

  • For our 1st anniversary DH and I really didn't do anything becuase we had just closed on our house and were doing a ton of projects before we moved in. The day of we ended up painted all day and ordering takeout for dinner, not a great way to celebrate our 1st anniversary.

DH did get me a micro-hood for our new kitchen (it came with an instruction book so I guess that could count as the paper part), and I was really excited about that.

Our wedding cake was from Heather Luse and her cakes are soooooooooo good, but I think we waited to long to freeze it because it did not taste good when it came out of the freezer. We each took a bite for good luck and ended up throwing it away. I was sad because after a day of painting I was really looking forward to that cake.

  • For our first anniversary we gave each other tickets to a Patriots home game. And then we took a trip up there to go to the game. We also went out to eat at the place we had our rehearsal dinner, and I ate some of our cake topper, but DH refused.

  • We also had a Heather Luse cake and loooovvveed it!!! we were able to eat it for our one year anniversary.  I tried to order a small one for our 5th anniversary but she was about to give birth.  I have ordered one for my birthday in two months!

We also did a B&B for our 1st anniversary.  Just nice to get away.  Love the tickets and gift certificates ideas.  Just think we did cards.

    Enjoy!!!

  • DH did traditional, and I did modern - he got me an acre of the sea floor - so it was a certificate, thus paper. Naming a star might be along the same lines. I got him a clock for his motorcyle.

We went to AC. It was my idea, but I should have thought of somewhere better.

As for the cake topper - yes we did try some.  The icing was still tasty but the cake was nasty.  So we threw it out to regain valuable freezer space!

  • We're skipping the traditional paper gifts and going to Jamaica for our 1 year anniversary.  I'm so excited!
