You are not going to believe how unbelievably stupid I am
I have jury duty today. Yes, I am writing you from the fifth floor of a courthouse in downtown Los Angeles, exciting place to be. Can't you just hear the video of nearby places to eat just now?
I found out about this last night. I spent a good half hour packing my bag: scarf in case it's cold, snacks if I get hungry, my lap top, all of my books necessary to get work done (next week is the last week of classes, so I have a lot to do). I even put all of the papers I am working on on a jump drive so I could spend all day doing real work.
I LEFT THE JUMP DRIVE AT HOME!! I am kicking myself. I can't believe it. Now I'm stuck here for seven more hours with tons of work to do and almost no way to do it.
And facebook is blocked so you all get to hear about it!

A tip to avoid this in the future -- I've started keeping my thesis jump drive in my wallet. I figure if I forget that, I'm screwed for many more reasons (no license, no money, no credit cards) than just not having the jump drive.
Sorry you're stuck at the courthouse all day! I'll try to think of something that will liven up the board...
