Gatlinburg lodge recommendations?
DH and I have been doing a lot of research re:vacations this year- we're now looking into Gatlinburg. It'll only be the 2 of us, but we're looking for a cute lodge for 2.
I've only been there once and it was many years ago.
Any recommendations would be terrific!
Re: Gatlinburg lodge recommendations?
I don't have any specific recommendations for small cabins since the only times I have gone were with big groups. My biggest recommendation is to spend the extra money if necessary to get a nice, updated cabin! We were just there in October for a wedding and I had nothing to do with booking etc.. we literally didn't get the address until the morning that we left and when we got there we were so let down! I know they booked it based on price, but I would have rather spent the little extra to have a hot tub, pool table etc.. it would have saved money in the long run because we would have been able to spend more time at the cabin.
As far as attractions go... I am in love with hilbilly golf, it's my favorite and I have to do it every time I go to G'burg. I love to drive over to NC and go to the Indian Casino (Harrah's). It's a great drive through the mountains and it's a nice little get a way for the day. I typically find myself just exploring through the woods, on a trail or in a creek bed somewhere when I am in G'Burg so I don't have a laundry list for you. I have been so many times it's just another place for me, it's not really a vacation any more!
we were very happy with this company and they have a large assortment of options:

I've never done a lodge in Gatlinburg, we always get a cabin. We've done the hotel for an extra night add on, and it's just not the same. We buy groceries on the way in and do a lot of our own cooking (although go to calhouns when you're there for dinner one night!). The best cabins we had were through this: http://www.yourcabin.com/ Check on tripadvisor.com for reviews of specific cabins. If you're into hiking, do the abrams falls. It's fairly easy with a gorgeous waterfall. HTH!

Sara - Ask David about the lodge we normally rent. It is really beautiful and the lady works at your office and gave us a great price!
DH and I went to Gatlinburg 2 years ago and stayed at a great cabin. (Had a loft, wrap around porch, and hot tub!!) Here is the link for more info.
Have a great time!
