Sorry ladies but I just need to get the past week+ off of my chest.
So the weekend before last (Feb 20/21) my DS had a cold and DH was working all weekend but was then going to be off for the whole week. So no problem, it's not the end of the world and he is not terribly miserable. Monday morning though there was no way I was sending him to the day home because I wanted to give him one more day to make sure that he didn't infect anyone else. DH wasn't happy with this but agreed (he just wanted his week off in peace). During all of this DD isn't sleeping wonderfully but otherwise she was doing good.
Thursday morning DS's babysitter at the day home tells us that one of the other two kids there either had allergies or a cold the week before but that she had told the parents that from now on they must assume that it's a cold because it's not fair to get the other kids sick.
Thursday afternoon DD starts getting stuffed up and it continues until Sunday noon. She starts to get more lethargic and is not hungry and then her diaper is dry and she develops a fever. So off I head to the ER. It turns out that she caught her brothers cold (a common virus called RSV) but because of her age there are concerns and they want to admit her.
So basically I have been stuck in the hospital since Sunday evening with DD. She is on an IV and periodically needs inhalers and we will be here until at least Thursday am. The worst thing is though that we have to be in isolation so that the other kids on the ward don't catch it and they advise against me seeing my DS so that it doesn't go back and forth. On top of that DH has to still be at work and I can't leave DD unless someone else is sitting with her.
The good thing is that there are volunteers at the hospital who can sit with her for a few minutes while I grab a coffee (I have to completely change my clothes first and scrub and the volunteer has to be in a mask and gown for contamination issues) and we are in a private room with a full bathroom and bed for me but I am getting exhausted.
Oh and on Friday my dishwasher flooded my kitchen and it was raining in my basement. ![]()
I know this isn't the worse thing in the world but right now I feel like I should buy a lottery ticket because I need some good luck. However, I would probably donate all the winning to the pediatric ward for some decent sleeping accomodations for all the parents and things for the kids......
I feel better now....thanks for listening ![]()
Re: I just need to vent for a minute...
{{hugs}} It sounds lilke you've got alot on your shoulders. Both of my nephews had RSV. It can, indeed, be very serious in babies, so I am relieved to hear they are being really proactive in treating her. I hope everything gets back to normal for you...real soon
P.S. Sorry about the uncomfortable bed...just pretend you're here when you hit the hay...
