Why can't things just be easy?

URGH.  My work mailed me some paperwork for short term disability that they provide and I filled it out and sent it back on September 16th.  On September 19th the HR manager faxed all of the information to the company that they work with for this kind of thing.  On Saturday I get a letter that they denied me because they didn't have info from my Dr. (I had my Dr fill out the paper that was sent to me and no where did it say any thing else was required) So I call my Dr, they don't just release my charts and what not without a request from this company.  So I call the company back and this different lady I spoke with says "fine as a courtesy we will fax a request but that wont be done for 1-2 business days and we are not responsible for the fees they charge."  I responded with well I don't believe there are any fees and she said well you are paying them if there are.  Okay whatever.

Call my Dr's office, they don't charge fees but they don't have a copy of the form that they filled out 2 weeks ago cause the front desk girl forgot to copy it and put it in my chart.  So then I have to call my HR person and ask her to fax that to them.

Seriously.  I'm just going crazy over here.  LOL.  I wasn't expecting to get this disability in the first place so it was a nice surprise to find out I was, but it sure has been alot of work that I wasn't expecting either.  Thanks for letting me vent.  I hope it all made sense.

  • Sorry jayme!!

Yea, they make it a PAIN to get disability.  When i was crazy sick last year, my work put me on it for a bit.

It took weeks to get it straighten out and start collecting checks.   I think i FINALLY got my first check 5-6 weeks after my first initial paperwork submission.

     ARG!

Hang in there and keep on top of it.  i think the disability people do it on purpose sometimes to delay payments.

  • ah....this brings back memories of my maternity leave....

And...I'm the freaking HR person, the one that explains this crap to people...and it gets all f'd up!  The insurance companies seem to deny if you miss a period on an i....and then the doctor's office is no help at all too.

Sorry you're going through this, hopefully it gets sorted out quickly.

  • These things seem to happen to everyone. I think it's insurance protocol to try to deny payment or hope you give up on it. Hopefully it gets straightened out and you have a check in hand soon.
