I think they're afraid it will loose them the election. The public hates this bailout, which is why the House Reps are so afraid of it, and why the Dems won't strong arm them into it. They don't want to be blamed.
I wonder what the public will think after the Dow reacts.
Apparently many Dems saw the writing on the wall that the votes weren't there and defected.
Now they're going to negotiate over the next few days (even though many are leaving for the holiday) and try to vote on something new by Thursday or Friday.
