I am. Seriously!
Long story short. I'm Catholic but I never made my Confirmation. I decided that I wanted to take the confirmation classes and make it happen. I've been getting more and more involved in the church and want to be a solid role model for Dex so it's time to do it. In order to be confirmed you need a sponsor. I had an easy choice in Paul. However he can't sponsor me because he wasn't married in a Catholic Church. So in order to get him qualified to be my sponsor, we need to get married in the church!
We have to work out all the details but are hoping to do it on April 19th; our anniversary.
You are all cordially invited to our wedding!
Re: I'm getting remarried!
Won't you have to complete the marriage prep classes? Pre-Cana, possibly Marriage Encounter? April 19 is around the corner!
Congrats though!
We have our meeting this weekend to work everything out. I am not sure what is going to be required. I'm expecting Pre-Cana.
~~~MARRIED BIO~~~
I just wanted to say that we aren't getting married solely because we have to. I don't mean to make it sound like a technicality. We had been talking about going through the process in the church before all this. Both sacraments are equally as important to me. I just wanted to say that because I kind of feel like I was lessening the marriage part and just doing it because I need a confirmation sponsor. Not the case. Not that anyone thought that, I just wanted to say it. :-)
That is awesome. I've been to a convalidation ceremony before and it was really nice.
Do you get to buy a new dress?
Of course! It won't be white but I definitely will be getting a new dress.
Congratulations Gerrie! How awesome!
Very cool! Congrats! Does it come with a new ring, too?
Also - a random question. I always thought that to be married in a Catholic church, both parties had to be Catholic. (Which would create a chicken or the egg dilemma.) Is that not the case?
margaritas in mexico
I do not believe that is the case. When Steve and I were planning we had thought about getting married in the church and my church didn't have a problem with it. In fact, they even had a Rabbi we could use so we could do both traditional weddings in the church.
