Poll:gYNECOLOGIST-Male or Female

Hey Ladies!

When you go to the gyno do you prefer a man or a woman? Or it doesn't matter to you?

Re: Poll:gYNECOLOGIST-Male or Female

  • I've mostly had female, but honestly don't mind either.  It's an awkward regaudless!
  • I have only been to a woman gynecologist, who I feel more comfortable with and at ease.   Either way, like you said it is awkward.
  • The talking part is fine, even regular test but the exam is just strange!

Even pushing out a baby in front of a room full of folks is strange.  But they see "them" all day everyday so they dont care but still... strange.
  • I prefer a male gyno. I have only had males so I am really comfortable although my husband wants me to get a female.

    Peace

  • It doesn't matter to me either way. i never even thought about it until I started with my current gyn. She is very honest and I trust her advice. That's most important to me! It also helps that she recognizes me even outside the office by name!
  • I definetly feel more comfortable with a woman although, like others have said, it awkard either way.

Dh is a PA and while he was doing his gynocologic rotation he really thought that it would end up being his specialty. He said you see so many different body parts and the like everyday that you become immune to it and it doesn't phase you at all. I told him I didn't want him to go into gynocology, but I guess that was just based off of my preferrences for a female doctor/ PA. He also said that many of the women he's encountered actually prefer as male as well.

To each his own, but it is interesting to hear why some women prefer a male health care professional.
  • Male. They seem to be more gentle. The last lady I went to---I thought she was going to ruin my chances of having children one day.
