Cover letter...
Dear Sir or Madam:
Last Sunday, I read your ad for an IT Administrative Assistant in the Temple Daily Telegram. I believe this position is the perfect opportunity for me to utilize current skills and also gain experience and first-hand knowledge of a company specializing in software. I've had the opportunity to work in a variety of positions and have a wide range of professional abilities. I have worked with project managers to maintain budgeting goals and completed work with strict deadlines. I have helped teach coworkers new processes on company software. I have faced complicated problems and found a solution through research and critical thinking.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Finance, and my immediate goal is to be accepted to Texas A&M University Central Texas and study for a Master of Science in Information Systems. My experience has been with accounting departments, but in every position I have become the teammate most interested in the software design. I have spent hours exploring different systems, simply because I enjoy it.
After reviewing Company at website, I am excited to become a part of the organization. I would love to become involved with the company?s culture activities. I have participated in several charity functions and fundraisers through previous employers. I raised $150 for the MDA Lock-Up and more than $500 for the Make-A-Wish Walk For Wishes, two organizations that are very close to my heart.
I believe the IT Administrative Assistant position is exactly what I am seeking. For a full-time position, I would accept a salary of $37,500. I look forward to discussing my potential employment with PDI.
Sincerely,
Alexis
Re: review my cover letter? (long)
I personally wouldn't put your salary requirements in the cover letter. Based on the way offers are done at my company, you could be shooting too low and not know it.
Also, while I think it's great you're going to attempt to get your Masters, it may make you sound overqualified for an Admin Asst role, and could disqualify you right out of the gate.
Just my initial feedback.
Good luck!
Normally, I wouldn't put in salary requirements either but they specfically asked for it the job posting.
Thanks for the feedback!
