Amusing Thing at Work

I was checking out the menu for our work cafeteria and it says "Every Friday is Steak House Friday!"  Really??  During Lent? lol.  To be fair, this week they are having an Ahi Tuna Steak but next week it looks like it's Prime Rib.

Re: Amusing Thing at Work

  • That is pretty funny - especially since the office/cafeteria is in Cincinnati.  I will say that there are plenty of folks in town who don't observe Lent so more power to the cafeteria. I'm a lapsed Catholic so I see both angles!

  • I don't see why not. Obviously not everyone celebrates lent, so why not keep supplying them with the Friday steaks they're accustomed to?

Do they cater to other holidays with food restrictions?

  • Yeah..it's weird too because I just noticed it this week and should have mentioned it in my original post that I don't think it's been an ongoing promotion.  I don't observe Lent and I hardly buy from the cafeteria.  Interesting timing, is all lol :).
  • How funny! That is in direct contrast to my office of 3500+ people where the specials are fish 'n mac and tuna salad sandwiches every Friday.
  • I've noticed that many places around here (public schools, etc) shift to a Lenten menu during this time of the year-even though the word Lent is never mentioned.   Supply & demand I guess!  However, props to your work for having something other than fried cod as a non-meat option!
