Moving to NC and need your help :)!

Lived in Michigan my entire life and all that is about to change.  My husband is being presented with a wonderful job offer we are considering.

I will just cut right to it.  I am due September with baby #2 so I am looking for ANY recommendations for a wonderful OB/GYN (prefer female) and also a pediatrician. We are looking for homes in the Raleigh area and all surrounding suburbs.  I know I am not being extremely specific but would LOVE all recommendations you have to offer!!

Thanks Ladies for any and all recommendations!!!

  • Welcome and congrats! I'm from MI too! I've been going to the Chapel Hill Obgyn and always like the people and atmosphere there if you wind up over that way.

  • You may want to check over on the NC Baby board for pedi recs (and OB recs too, obviously). There's a link for it towards the top of this board. Two of the more popular OB/GYN practices among the nesties in this area are Wilkerson and Atrium. I haven't been to either, but am in the process of switching to Atrium because I've heard so many great things about them from both moms and non-moms. I know there's another that seems to be frequently mentioned, but I can't remember the name of it.
  • I go to Kamm McKenzie and have had great experiences.  I haven't had any kids yet, but I've heard from quite a few moms that they had good experiences.

As for areas to live, I think you should look at where your DH will be working and how long of a commute he is willing to have.  We picked North Raleigh because it was equal distances to RTP (where I work) and downtown (where DH works).  For us the commute is 20-30min depending on traffic.  We live in a very neighborly and family-friendly neighborhood.  If you want to know the specific area, feel free to email me at kevinandelissa at yahoo dot com.  GL!

  • We live in NE Raleigh near Triangle Town Center and 540. Wake Forest is really nice but the traffic to get into Raleigh and back home is a pain!

  • I do not know specifics about the Raleigh area but good luck with the move.

  • I go to Mid Carolina OBGYN and I love them.  It is a large practice with many doctors.

     N. Raleigh is heavily populated and pretty expensive..it's a nice area though.  We live there now, but are looking to move to Holly Springs/Apex area.
