So I've had a TA in my room that has been a nightmare and I've talked multiple times to the SPED teacher about her. Well the other TA that works for the SPED teacher is having surgery so she has someone filling in for her while she's gone. Both the new TA and the other TA (the one who burned her hand on the tea kettle) are useless! They talk on cell phones, text, read a book, etc. while I'm teaching. It distracts my students and they are flat out NOT doing their job. I talked to the SPED teacher about it during lunch before and I know another teacher has as well. Nothing has changed. So yesterday I went to the VP to talk to her about the problem. Now the SPED teacher is mad at me "for not consulting him". I'm ticked because I did talk to him before about this and his TA that's going out for surgery has talked to him as well. It's just frustrating to be "spoken to" when you didn't do anything wrong and are just looking out for the kids. I'd rather not have anyone in my room than these 2.
Re: UGH - Co-workers!
Yeah I said to him that I mentioned it before and that his TA also has come to him. He said she hadn't said anything to him and he was more concerned that I went above his head without telling him I was going to do that. That's my guess anyway, not that I didn't tell him what he TA's were doing but that I was going to say something to the VP about it.
Come on though, if it's not geting better, you better believe I'll take it to the next level.
I agree- he's probably mad he got called out by the VP, and KNOWS you talked to him, but wanted to blame anyone other than himself. I'd blow it off and keep on doing what's right- address him directly next time, and go above him if nothing is done.
I did address him directly about some of the issues. The TA directed him about a few others as well (since I wasn't in the room when it happened). The thing that gets me is that someone is obviously lying (and those that know me know how I feel about liars). Either the TA never told him what happened and is lying to me saying she did or she did tell him and he is lying that she didn't tell him. I hate the drama that students bring to school, this is even worse when it's adults!
