What's "normal" for you and your family?
For example:
Growing up, we always had some kind of "Easter basket" with candy. I only once got something non-candy, and until I was a teenager, my mom hid them (then it just became a communal "candy basket". LOL)
Family (siblings, maternal grandparents, sometimes paternal aunts/cousins) came over for a meal that centered around ham. I think I can only remember a few times my maternal grandparents had my mom's family (so aunts/cousins) over to their house instead.
We never really dressed up or got special new clothing (like the cute Easter dresses? It's COLD in WI typically... sometimes snowy still. You'd FREEZE.) LOL
Re: RP: I know it's early, but Easter...
My mom gave us Easter baskets up until a couple of years ago. She'll still give us candy.
We used to have a big, sit down dinner w/a ham but we've stopped that since me, Mike and my mom won't eat ham. Sometimes we'll have a BBQ. Every few years my bday is on Easter (last year was) so it becomes a bday celebration instead.

My mom always did Easter basket up until a few years ago also. She usually still gives us little gifts though.
We do a family dinner. The menu varies. It may have included ham at one point though. We used to dress up when we were little. We still have videos of us on camera showing our Easter dresses.
I ask because a good friend of ours is considering coming up that weekend. I got a little excited because that means I can cook a big meal (it feels more like a family occassion when it's not just Greg & I. LOL)
But I want to kind of veer away from the traditional ham & au gratin potatoes I grew up on... so I thought I'd check out what others eat for ideas. LOL
When I was little, we used to have a full turkey dinner on Easter and my sister and I would get baskets full of candy.
Now, my mom orders takeout from Bob Evans and we hunt easter eggs with the kids. Oh, and the kids get easter baskets full of candy and toys.
