So, most of our weddings were pretty recently

and I do recall the usual etiquette that I learned along the way.

We had gotten an invitation in the mail about a week or so ago and the rsvp date isn't for another 3 weeks (if not more).  We haven't sent it back yet, just because its not a priority and we still have tons of time.

The bride-to-be just TEXTED my husband asking if we are coming or not.  We weren't planning on going anyhow and that just firmed it up.

What a train wreck!

  • That's so rude of her to text him! The point of the date is to provide people the opportunity to respond. You're not supposed to ask/harass/bug until after that date passes! Good thing you're skipping the wedding, although it might be fun to see just how much of a train wreck her wedding will be too!

Its a nice venue, but there is no way it will be a good time.  Her entire family is a train wreck!

  • if she was in such a big hurry, she should have made her rsvp date sooner.  i remember loving getting the mail and opening up the cards and being annoyed by those who didn't reply (after the date) but texting someone when there's still weeks to go is ridiculous!

My 2 favorite weddings of all time were total train wreck families- SUCH good stories. Do you think I could go in your place just to see what this is like?

  • I bet she has an A and a B list, and wants to know if she can give your spot to a B lister.  ;)

!! You're probably right! I didn't even think of that. I don't really like the idea of A and B lists (although I see why some would do it). But if you're going to do that, wouldn't you bump up the initial RSVP date so it didn't tip anyone off? Or would that cost too much money to print two sets of RSVP cards? I would do everything in my power to ensure that people didn't know there was an A and B list, let alone which one they were on!

To the OP: looks like you were on the A list though!

  • Robin - sure!!! LOL

I didn't even think of the A and B lists!  I handed her her assz on facebook about it.

She must not have given herself enough time, but that isn't our fault.  I sent out our "no" reply yesterday.  Geesh.

I called people AFTER the due date had passed, but never before.
