Re: FurBaby survey :)
1. How old is your FurBaby? Bosley is 5 years old and George is 10 months
2. What Breed is your FurBaby? bosley is a mixed terrier I actually have no idea what mix, everyone is always trying to guess. George is a Beagle
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite? I have 2 furbabies and I do think I favor Bosley more, he is my first and we have been through so much together. Bosley is also so mellow, easy and outgoing with children and adults even other Dogs. He is an old soul. Now George
I love him a lot but he is a character and is always getting into trouble somehow. It's hard to be mad at him very long because he just makes you laugh. But George is a handful, he is getting better and I have to remember he is still a puppy.
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)? I got Bosley form the shelter at 4 weeks old. He was so sad and adorable, he looked like a little cotton ball with eyes:) He didn't play at first and was very mellow from the beginning. MH was a friend at the time when I got Bosley and Bosley had warmed up to him right away. But interesting because Bosley didn't like all the guys I was dating. He sort of knew I guess that I was suppose to be with MH
When he was a year old I had to move into a place that didn't allow pets, so he lived at my sidters for about 2 years and I would get him on the weekends and we would hang out together. He never forgot me even though we weren't living together and he knew I was coming for him on the weekends. When the weekend was over I had a hard time tieing him back up at MS and would cry as I left him. It was a time that I needed him the most and he knew. I would sneak him into my apartment on the weekends too and he always was very quiet and sorta knew that he had to be.
We just got George from a breeder on Oahu in September, he was 4 months old. You could see the difference in personality right away. We got him because MH wanted a dog and I always wanted a Beagle. I found him in the classifieds and talked with the breeder via e-mail and FB for about a week and then I flew to Oahu to pick him up. He was so well behaved I was amazed. He still is when he wants to be
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby? We feed our dogs Nutra Ultra....you can see the difference in their poop (they don't poop as much and it's never runny), skin, coat. It costs a little more but it really does make a difference. Once in a while they will get a taste of table food. Bosley is a very picky eater but George will eat anything and everything even fruits and vegetables!
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up? Bosley was mine and We got George together
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship? It's great, Bosley was my Dog and even though he loves MH bosley definitely pays me more attention and listens to me better. George really is more MH's Dog. George responds better to MH to. George will listen to me, but he rather cuddle and play with MH. It's so funny because when George needs to go outside he will bother MH, he won't come to me and ask to go out. Where Bosley will come to me and ask to go outside. George will go to the extreme of even waking the hubs up in te middle of the night, by licking his ear, but when MH isn't home he doesn't bother me one bit.
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name? I got Bosley when I was single with the intent that he was going to be my loyal companion and for a week he didn't have a name. I was watching Charley's Angles one evening and thought Bosley was perfect, my protector. George came with his name. He was 4 months old and already knew his name, and he so looked like a George, it just suited him so we kept it. And aparently the breeders name him George after their favorite uncle that had passed away.
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby? Only on Halloween and christmas time
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home? they are both indoor and outdoor, but mostly indoor. We were tieing them up outside but have an A-hole neighbor that was tormenting them. So now MIL Dogsits for us and they are mostly outdoors with her since she has a nice fenced in yard. Bosley can stay in the house whenever and where ever, he woun't tear things up. George can not though, he gets into everything.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)? I asked this question only because I have a friend who recently spent $5000 for her pug to have surgery on his leg after breaking it from falling off the couch playing. And then the other day spent $800 for a vet and will be paying more for surgery on her 16 year old chiuaua. I on the other hand would not go that far, I love my babies but honestly I don't know if I could justify spending that kind of money. If they needed meds for the rest of their lives then yes I would get that for them.
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move? No, I would have to find a friend or family member that would take them, but I would not be able to give them to a stranger or give them up forever. I thnk circumstances would have to be extreme for me to give them up completely.
1. How old is your FurBaby?
Jack will be 5 at the end of May!
2. What Breed is your FurBaby?
Bichon Frise, only the best breed out there.....I suppose I'm bias huh?
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite?
We only have Jack.
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)?
I bought Jack from a breeder that had been breeding Bichon's for 17 years.
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby?
ProPlan......its nothing too exciting but he likes it and its good for his skin.
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up?
Oh he was all mine, but you'd never have known it! I got him a month before MH and I started dating. And it was love at first sight for those two.
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship?
He is the closest thing to a baby that we have. He is treated as such and our lives are seriously run by this little man. But I wouldn't have it any other way. He adds so much to our lives.
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name?
I was pressed on getting a girl because I wanted to name her Betty. But that didn't pan out, and to be honest, I don't know how I came up with Jack.
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby?
If you consider dress-up as in, YES, he does have sweaters for the cold and different holidays, and he has a rain jacket for all the rain we have here.
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home?
He is primarily an indoor dog. And he stays inside while we are gone. We try not to be away from him more than your typical work day. The extent of him being outdoors is taking him to the parks, and walks.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)?
Ahhh......a subject that makes me cringe. At this point, I think I would exhaust all efforts. This past Xmas eve, Jack ate a whole box (2 lbs) of chocolate. So we had to encounter these questions at the emergency room. I hope to never do that again.
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move?
Heaven's no. Not even an option. When I got this dog, I knew what I was getting myself into. He is a family member so that would never happen.
1. How old is your FurBaby?
My Frosty is 2 yrs 5 mos old.
2. What Breed is your FurBaby?
Maltese
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite?
One, but I like him more than I like the kids so I guess he is a definite favorite!! (kidding about the kids, a little).
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)?
We are horrible, we got him from a home breeder. I know, I know there are many strays that need homes...
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby?
He only eats Solid Gold Just a Wee Bit and I sprinkle with Angel Eyes.
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up?
Furbaby was a gift to me and the kids from hubs. It is HUGE for him to have a dog in the house.
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship?
Frosty just adds more love to the house!
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name?
He is white and we got him for Christmas, duh!
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby?
I am not allowed to dress up Frosty, though I have a cute little blue bow tie I throw on him every now and then when hubs isn't around
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home?
Totally indoor, only out when we are home. When we aren't home, he stays in the house. He uses puppy pads - such a good boy, though his aim is off a little.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)?
I don't have a mental limit, it would depend on the situation and the suffering. I would do meds, possibly surgery, but it really depends on the circumstances. Hubs says no more than $999.99 and he would kill me if I said 'oh and can you take Frosty to his acupuncture appointment at 9"?.
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move?
Absolutely NOT!
Fun poll!
1. How old is your FurBaby? Kai is 1.5yo, we think Sulu is the same age give or take a few months
2. What Breed is your FurBaby? Kai is a female Shiba Inu, Sulu is a male Shiba/Chihuahua mix
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite? 2
They are both our babies and we favor one or the other at different times
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)? Kai was my husband's Xmas gift to me. He got her the year we were married. She was from a breeder. Sulu is a shelter rescue. We were only planning to foster him until he could get adopted out, and he never left
I call him Kai's brother from another mother LOL!
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby? We fed them Orijen the first year, now we feed them Wellness Core. They L-O-V-E that stuff. We feed them dry kibble and mix canned food in on special occasions. We only do the grain free, corn free, etc stuff
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up? Nope
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship? Like a lot of people, those dogs are like our kids. That's what we call them. They definitely add to our relationship in a number of positive ways, and we both admit that we miss them when we're at work
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name? I named Kai (always loved that name) and Ryan named Sulu (obvious Star Trek fan)
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby? We don't do the dress up stuff, but I'm considering dressing them up for Halloween this year. I have a hot dog and ladybug costumes waiting for them! I might also get them personalized football jerseys come football season
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home? We live in a townhouse with no yard so they're 100% indoor. They have run of the house when we're gone, but we do close the door to the computer room because of the wires.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)? Not sure. I hate to think of anything happening to the kids!
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move? No. That wouldn't happen in our house. They're a part of our family so wherever we go, they go
It was totally random...I am always with my camera and I just caught it. but this is exaclty how they are with each other....Bosley is the big brother and George is the pesty little brother.
I love your answer to #5, Frosty apparently get's the royal treatment in your household:)
And Hubs doesn't like me to dress the boys up either but every now and then I can get away with it. I have T-shirts for them that say wonder dog on it, and this is some what accetable but only when we are having a party.

8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name? I was living in LA, but wanting a name that represented NOLA. It was b/t Satchmo (after Louis Armstrong) & Tchoupitoulas (a street in NOLA). I knew if I went with Tchoupitoulas I would end up calling him Chop & I didn't like that so went with Satchmo!
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby? only on Halloween
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home? just indoor...he would have a heart attack if he ever went outside. He definitely is the poster cat for "scaredy cat"
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)? I don't know, but I would be willing to go the distance. I can't imagine not being able to help my boy!
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move? definitely not...we are a package deal!
1. How old is your FurBaby? 11
2. What Breed is your FurBaby? maine_coon mix
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite? cheech and chong...cheech died 4 days after he came to hawaii
he had a heart condition and no one was able to diagnose it until it was too late...i'm sure the plane ride didn't help. they were both equally my buddies but now i give chong lots of love since i realize he may go anyday.
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)? i'm allergic to cats but i LOVE animals and we were living in apt so dh and i decided on cats. we would go to petco everyday to look at the rescues. nothing really caught our attention until one day there these two gorgeous kitties. cheech started meowing at us and it was over after then. we weren't allowed to have pets but we couldn't resist and they were a package deal since they were brothers. basically, they chose us
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby? my kitty is on a raw diet after having massive stomach troubles. he looks fabulous now and no stomach issues.
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up? we got them together.
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship? it doesn't.
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name? we had two kitties and were looking for partner names so cheech and chong it was. well i guess there was more to the story, it's kind of not pc...chong is orange/yellowish, cheech was brown so we said cheech was mexican and then of course chong had to be asian so that's how we came up with it...although when people hear their names, they think we are big stoners...lol.
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby? kind of hard to do with cats but ocassionally i'll put a tshirt on chong to annoy him or some left over mardi gras beads...haha.
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home? only indoor.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)? as far as needed. i'm looking into acupuncture now for my kitty...jsut for prevententative reasons.
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move? nope. i spent a fortune getting them here..i'd do it again in a heart beat
1. How old is your FurBaby? Jake and Elwood (cats) are 4 years old. Korben the Wonder Dog is 2.5 years old. Indiana my sweet BooBoo is 1.5 years old.
2. What Breed is your FurBaby? Jake and Elwood are domestic medium hairs (lol offspring of a long hair and a short hair). Korben is an Australian Cattle Dog aka a red heeler. Indy is half Kelpie, half Lab.
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite? Four. I would say that overall, Jake is the household favorite, then the rest of the animals. I wish I could say that they were all equal, but if for some reason we had to give away all of our animals but one, we'd keep Jake.
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)? Jake and Elwood were from a pet store (I know, I know), Korben was from a local breeder and Indy was a freebie - someone at work had had an accidental breeding and was giving away puppies, and I just fell in love with him.
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby? The kitties get Friskies (their favorite) and the dogs generally get Purina. And yes, I know it's not the best dog food out there (I've seen people get crucified on the Pets board for mentioning it), but like everything else, dog food is freaking expensive in Australia and we can't afford to spend $200 a month on a more upmarket brand. They're healthy, their coats are shiny, they have plenty of energy, so I think they're fine. They also get nice meaty bones a couple of times a month.
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up? Neither - we got all of them after we started living together or were married.
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship? In only good ways! We love our pets.
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name? Jake and Elwood are the names of The Blues Brothers - what cooler names could there be for cats who are all dressed in black?! Korben is named for Korben Dallas from The Fifth Element (Ben's favorite movie, because he's a big nerd). Indiana is from Indiana Jones (we like naming our animals after movie characters lol), but in retrospect I should have gone with my other choice, Buster from Arrested Development - my doggie is SUCH a mama's boy!
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby? Ha! No. Although I do love the idea of dressing Jake up in funny hats. I'm not sure why.
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home? "Both" for all of them. The cats spend all day outside and all night inside (unless it's bad weather). The dogs generally spend all day outside so they can run and play, and where they spend nights depends on the weather - we don't have central A/C so during the summer they sleep outside too (it's MUCH cooler for them out there than it would be in a crate inside), and during the winter they sleep in crates in the house. They also come inside during bad weather, etc.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)? Honestly, it's hard to say. It would likely depend on how much money we had to spare - we'd spend as much as we could, but that would be less these days (because of the twins) than it would have been, say, 2 years ago.
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move? We would do everything possible not to. I think the only way we would do that is if we suddenly had a huuuuge change in fortune and had to move to a 1 bedroom apartment with no yard or something (and even then we'd fight to find one where we could keep the cats - I just don't think we could ever give them up). We would NEVER just say, "We're going to move interstate and it's too much effort to even try move our pets, so bye!" It would take a lot to make us give them away. (On the bright side, if we ever did have to give them up, I know someone with a farm who would take Indy in a heartbeat, and I'm 99% positive that Ben's parents would want Korben, so at least we would know where they were and that they were happy and loved.)
1. How old is your FurBaby? 1 year and 7 months
2. What Breed is your FurBaby? Bichon Frise! (I agree Sarah - they are the best breed around!
)
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite? Just one for now. Once we move we want to get another to keep Wolfgang company.
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)? We bought Wolfgang from a breeder. He was the runt of the litter, and they chose not to show him (his grandpup won Best in Show back in like 200 or something). I was really reluctant to get a dog. My previous Bichon (Shorty) had passed away about a 1 yr and half prior and it was still kinda hard on me. Plus we live in an apt, and I didn't want the responsibility of a dog. Especially because we are looking to move to the mainland. But as soon as the breeder handed Wolfgang to me I melted. He was such a small ball of fluff! I just loved him and could not put him down. I felt bad though after because we found out that they really didn't give him any sort of attention so he wouldn't get attached. But in turn, it made him kinda like a blob. No personality, very cautious, not very dog-like. He didn't even know how to react to treats or toys! After a week or two though he came around and started to blossom. And now he is FULL of personality. He's a crazy little guy!
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby? We feed him the Purina One Small Bites. Though, the vet recommended Eukunaba to help him gain some weight. We'll try it out soon.
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up? He's ours.
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship? I think it makes it better. Wolfgang brings us together, and we learned more about each other in "raising" him.
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name? When we brought him home he was in total Bichon mode with a big round fluff puff face. His fro reminded me of Mozart, so we ended up with Wolfgang. His middle name is Rampage for the UFC fighter (that was Chris's contribution).
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby? He loves his sweaters! He gets cold easily so when it's windy we put his sweater on. We also have a Saints jersey he wore for Superbowl, a UH Football t-shirt, a halloween t-shirt, and his chicken suit for halloween.
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home? Indoor. He stays in our bedroom when we are gone. He sleeps all day.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)? It depends what it is. Though he is our baby so we would probably do whatever it takes.
12. Would you be able to give up your FurBaby if you had to move? No. We are taking Wolfgang with us when we move. I wouldn't be able to leave him.
1. How old is your FurBaby? I have two cats....Paija is approx. 13-14, and Tacy is 6.
2. What Breed is your FurBaby? Paija is a domestic longhair, and Tacy is a domestic shorthair.
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite? Just those two. Paija has been with me a lot longer, through some rough times, so she and I are definitely closer. Tacy can be sweet, but mostly is a little pain in the butt! I have strong suspicions that she has some slight brain damage (I'm not joking, I'm completely serious!) since she was abandoned as a newborn and found in dumpster. I think she had some oxygen/food deprivation issues as a baby that have led to her complete inability to learn.
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)? Both shelter rescue. Paija was an adult who was found shortly after giving birth to a litter, and I've explained Tacy above! I found them both at a local shelter.
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby? TI'm actually in the middle of switching. Paija has had some digestive issues as of late. We've had a medical workup done, with no real results, so we're trying new food. We just switched to Natural Balance Premium.
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up? They were both mine. He had a cat, too, but he passed away last year.
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship? Interesting question for us recently! As I said, Paija has had some issues lately (vomiting and diarrhea) on some of our furniture. MH is none too pleased about this. We're trying to get her to not go in certain areas, but it's hard for her after being allowed there in the past. It has caused some minor rifts between us lately! Overall, though, MH adores them (especially Tacy, who has become his little buddy!).
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name? Paija was actually a former student of mine! When I first met her (the student), I immediately thought, "that sounds like a cat's name!" So when I got her (the cat) about a month later, I couldn't think of anything else that seemed to fit her! Plus, she's kind of a diva, so the exotic name seemed to fit. Tacy is named after the Tacy from the Betsy-Tacy books I adored as a child (and still do!) The character had red hait, and Tacy is orange and white, so it's worked!
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby? Yeah. Neither of them would tolerate this in the slightest!
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home? COMPLETELY indoor! I am very paranoid of my girls being outdoors. First of all, I don't trust that they wont run away. Secondly, I had a cat die of feline leukemia when I was young, and this is most often caught outdoors. I also had a cat get hit by a car as a kid. I just can't get these memories out of head enough to ever let them outdoors.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issuearose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)? Well, we recently spent almost $700 on tests for Paija. My ex-boyfriend and I once spent $2400 on surgery for a dog, which I guess would not be out of the question if it arose for one of these girls.
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move?I don't think we could move somewhere where we couldn't have the girls. Of course, that's much easier if you have cats, and not a dog.
OMG I just thought of something in response to #7 (how furbabies affect our relationship). I wrote "only in good ways" in my reply because we love them so much and they bring so much joy and humor to our lives...but I did just remember that one of them has brought some problems, too.
Remember last year, how Elwood kept crapping on the floor instead of in his litter box? Not for any physical reason or because of dirty litter, etc., just because he was being a little turd? He pretty much stopped after we started letting him go outside during the day, but he still does it occasionally, generally when he doesn't get his way about something - for example, if he jumps up on the kitchen counter and is scolded off, or if he's meowing for food and isn't fed as quickly as he'd like. This especially makes Ben craaaaazy since he's currently in charge of poo cleanup while I'm pregnant.
One night a couple of months ago, something must have happened that set Elwood off - can't recall what now, but really it doesn't take much with that cat. Els had already pooed on the laundry floor earlier that day, so Ben was already annoyed with him. Now, the weird thing about our laundry (which is where the litter box is) is that the light switch isn't right inside the door - you have to take 2-3 steps inside before you can reach it, so you can't see where you're going at first. Anyway, Ben went to walk in there for something and - SQUISH. Right in a fresh, hot steaming pile of cat turds. And he was barefoot. Yup. Cat poo between his toes.
I could hear him swearing, so I ran to the laundry to see what was up...I have never seen such a sh!tty (no pun intended) expression on my husband's face as I did that night. OMG he was SO pissed off with that cat! And I don't blame him, it was disgusting but he looked SO FUNNY! I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing because I knew it would make the situation so much worse.
Ben started trying to walk to the door so he could go outside to wash off his foot, but he was tracking cat crap all over, so I told him to stop and grabbed the nearest thing he could put his food on, which was a plastic bag. He tossed it on the ground and stepped on it (it stuck right to his foot because of the glue-like poo) and then held his head high and began trying to hobble in a dignified way toward the door...but because of the poo and the bag, there was this horrible squish-crackle-squish sound every time he took a step.
I lost it. I started laughing so hard, I couldn't even stand up. I've never seen my husband so pissed off, or trying so hard to stay dignified like that. He didn't talk to me for like 2 hours, but it was totally worth it - I'm laughing right now just thinking about him hobbling toward the door, a plastic bag glued to his foot with cat crap.

MH is a huge dog lover. One day, he asks if we can go to the humane society to visit the dogs, just to pet and stuff. He's volunteered there in the past so I thought nothing of it. At the Humane Society, they have you fill out a survey to determine which "color" you are; based on that they try to match you with compatible dogs. We visited with, I'd say, 4 or 5 dogs and the last one was really jumpy and I got really nervous, upset and kinda scared. So we walk back to the car to leave. Then MH asks if we can go back and just look at one more. I agree, and we pick a dog outside of our color but seemed like had nice traits. When you visit with the dogs, you sit in this open pen area and they bring the dog to you. The volunteer brings the dog to us, she literally climbs into MH's lap and curls into this cute little ball, and I have two sets of eyes looking at me. "Can we keep her *blink*blink*?" How can you say no to that scene?
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby?
Solid Gold's Barking at the Moon. The first ingredient is salmon; the second is like broccoli or something.
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up?
We got her together
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship?
I think MH loves her more than me!
Ha ha, j/k - he calls us both his #1 (like Captain Picard and #1 (Riker) - nerd alert!)
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name?
Nerd alert #2: Leeloo is Milla Jovovich's character in "The Fifth Element".
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby?
I have been known to provide Halloween Costumes
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home?
Both, but she stays indoors when we're at work. She has the run of the basement, and we have the ruined carpet to prove it
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)?
$500 for an x-ray? You betcha! Although we have discussed getting pet insurance, I hear that helps
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move?
Even if we had to move, we would take her with us
1. How old is your FurBaby? Jasmine and Hailey are about a month apart and are 5 years old.
2. What Breed is your FurBaby? Cats - domestic short hair and domestic long hair from the humane society.
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite? two cats. Jasmine is *my* cat, and totally my favorite. Hailey is DH's cat, and she loves him way more than she loves me. Feeling is mutual! Hailey is a bit of a monster.
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)? We got both cats from the Bowling Green Humane Society.
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby? friskies "mushy" food and iams crunchies.
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up? We were not married yet but we were living together when we adopted our cats.
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship? Ugh. Hailey (the monster) is uber posessive of DH. She sleeps between us (up by our heads), and anytime Dh and I cuddle she has to run up from where ever she is in the house (no idea how she can tell), and insinuate herself between us. Drives me nuts. DH thinks that it's funny.
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name? Just sounded right.
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby? Good lawd, no. Clothes are for humans.
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home? Indoor.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)? I would go as far as I could afford, but that probably wouldn't be more than 3 thousand per cat right now.
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move? Nope. Hense the expensive and stressful move for them from Ohio to Hawaii. I think they have finally forgiven us.
1. How old is your FurBaby? 1 year and 7 months old
2. What Breed is your FurBaby? American Pitt Bull
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite? Just my one furbaby
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)? friend who was going to have to send him to the shelter
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby? California Blend Lamb and Rice
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up? Nope, Adam got Makua for me right after my car accident ...I was really depressed and kept mentioning how much I would love a dog.
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship? It made us grow closer in a weird way and really did prepare us for a baby
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name? Makua...after Makua Valley in Makaha..."Save Makua Valley"
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby? no
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home? Both. He is inside with us while we are home and outside when we're not. We don't kennel him at all.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)? As much as needed...
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move? NO!! I would be homeless with him if I had to be.
1. How old is your FurBaby?
Lola turns 5 sometime in April. We adopted her, so it's all approximate. We celebrate her adoption date each year -- it's been 3 years so far.
2. What Breed is your FurBaby?
Ridgeback/Hound (again, as best we know...)
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite?
Just Lola
DH wants another, but I think Lola deserves all our attention.
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)?
She was MEANT for us. We had originally adopted another dog, but when we went back to pick him up, he had accidentally been given to another family! We were so devastated. DH was there alone, so I told him not to rush into anything, but if he felt he found the right one, he was welcome to bring him/her home. After meeting a bunch of other dogs, Lola was the only one to make him feel better. So he adopted her and promptly brought her home. And it's been heaven ever since!
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby?
Kirkland adult dog food -- alternate between the lamb and chicken varieties.
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up?
We adopted her together just before we got engaged.
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship?
Def made it sweeter. It's fun to see the parental tendencies set in. Lola is a total daddy's girl... it's so precious. And we love doing things together, like going to the dog park or hiking. I can't even imagine how it'll be when we add our little one to the mix!
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name?
We tossed names around for about an hour after she came home. I suggested it and he agreed. Done!
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby?
No. She's 50 lbs, so not really the dress-up dog type.
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home?
Outdoor when we're gone and to sleep M-F. We have a big, fenced yard that she runs freely in. Indoors when we're home, when it's cold or rainy, and to sleep on the weekends.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)?
I don't even want to think about this! We recently paid $600 for a wart removal, though, so I'm sure if it were really serious, we'd spend a ton more.
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move?
NEVER!!!! Lola was supposedly given up to the Humane Society at 1 yr 9 mos b/c her owners were moving to the mainland. We really can't fathom that... she'd go wherever we went!1. How old is your FurBaby? Just turned 4 on Monday
2. What Breed is your FurBaby? Border Collie
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite? Technically 2. I also have a cat. Definitely not equal - kind of dislike the cat, but looooove my dog.
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)? We rescued her from the SPCA. She was about 11 months old and had been beaten and neglected.
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby? Science Diet. We were feeding her a holistic brand but it was a PITA to get.
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up? We got her a couple months after we moved in together.
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship? She enhances it. She's totally Todd's baby - he adores her.
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name? I was in cosmetology school and there was a girl in my class named Magnolia and we called her Maggie - I just thought it was pretty.
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby? She hates wearing clothes. She does wear a pink scarf with a glittery cupcake on it on her birthday, but that's it.
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home? Both. If we aren't home she usually goes outside unless the weather sucks.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)? Ugh. No idea. Foro the dog, a lot. For the cat, I hate to say it, but nada.
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move? NO.
1. How old is your FurBaby? She'll be 8 on St. Patty's Day
2. What Breed is your FurBaby? German Shepherd/Lab Mix
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite? Only have one and she is our favorite
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)? Mia was a shelter rescue as a puppy. My dad bought her for all of us but as my sibling grew up and my step mom moved in, Mia was kicked out of the house and no one paid her any attention outside. So I rescued her from home and took her with me to Georgia.
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby? dry Pedigree dog food
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up? She was mine... and she definitely is a mama's girl.
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship? She gets all of MH and my attention whenever she wants it... I think the only effect she has on our relationship is a good one.
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name? My sister has a speech impairment so we wanted a simple name that she could say easily.
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby? Not really... she'll wear a bandana a few times but nothing else (unless she gets something from my step mom and I force her to wear it for the picture - that's the only time she'll wear the outfit)
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home? She's an indoor dog but loves outdoor. We don't have a fence right now so she can't stay outside by herself but we will sit outside a lot so she can roam around.... and she gets 2-3 walks a day. When we're not home, she is left inside.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)? Although it would hurt to spend a ton of money, I am almost positive I would spend whatever amount necessary to get her better. The only reason I wouldn't pay for something is if even after paying for the procedure she would still be in pain or her quality of life would still be horrible.
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move? Nope... I move every couple of years so she will always come with me. If for some reason I couldn't bring her to a short term location (i.e. if I had to do a year in Turkey, I don't think you're allowed to bring pets), MH would keep her or I would send her to a friend that I trust for that time being.
1. How old is your FurBaby?
1yr 2mos old and 10mos old. Both still puppies (definitely more so at heart than in physical size!)
2. What Breed is your FurBaby?
Both Siberian Huskies.
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite?
Two FURbabies and one turtle. We don't have favorites. The turtle is more low-maintenance so he naturally gets less attention but I like that he's not noisy and such attention whores like the pups =P But the pups are more loving and interactive (there's not much you can do with a turtle and it's not very cuddly either) but they're more whiny too, and not to mention destructive...we're so losing our deposit when we move out of here.
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)?
They're both from local breeders, but different parents.
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby?
Costco puppy food. It's super economical and doesn't contain corn/wheat/sugar or other by-products. It also contains DHA. For a while, when I couldn't stand the DHA in my prenatal vitamins (cuz it tasted like fish), I was taking vitamins without DHA and thinking dangit, even the dogs are getting DHA when my baby isn't. I'm now using flaxseeds for DHA instead
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up?
We got them both after we were together, so they were always both ours
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship?
Mmmm, now that I'm bigger (pg), I can't take the dogs out or help either, cuz they pull really hard (huskies were bred for pulling) and it's just really dangerous for me to take two large huskies down from our 3-story apt. So MH has to do it all the time now. Actually, he pretty much takes care of the pups 24/7 cuz he works mostly from home too. I think all I do is pet them =P It hasn't affected our relationship much but MH is tired all the time because the pups wake him up at 5-6am to go potty every morning =/
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name?
From the Pixar movie, WALL-E.
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby?
Nope. They'd get too hot since they're northern breed dogs.
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home?
Used to be indoor, but now outdoor. California is too hot to keep them inside all the time.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)?
Ooo, toughie. If it's for cosmetic purposes (like an injury that will heal but may leave a nasty scar), I may not spend much. But if it was for 100% medical purposes, it'll depend on how old they are (part of me also believes in the whole "if it's your time, then it's your time" thing but it really depends on each situation and I would still do everything I could to try make them better). At this age, we may spend more since they're so young. But if they're like 15, then I may not spend as much, but I don't know until I get there because maybe by the time they're that old, I'll be more attached and more willing to spend that much (or more rich to be able to afford that much =P).
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move?
Well, we've moved once already with the pups and we're moving again this month, and probably will again by the end of the year. So no, moving doesn't mean giving up pups IMO. They're a part of the family and they move with the family
2. What Breed is your FurBaby? all mini dachshunds
3. How many FurBabies do you have and are they all equally your babies or do you have a definite favorite? the 4 weenies and 2 outside dogs. I try to love them equally but the oldest and the youngest are momma boys so it is hard not to spoil them a little more
4. What is your FurBaby story (stray rescue, shelter rescue, breeder)? the weenies are all from breeders, one outside was a rescue and the other is my step sons so I have no idea where it came from
5. What kind of dog food do you feed your FurBaby? the weenies get eukanuba and the others get pedigree
6. Was your FurBaby yours or hubs before you hooked up? the weenies were mine well only 3 then we studded one out after we got together and kept the pick of the litter. The stray we rescued together and then my step son already had his dog when I came along
7. How does your FurBaby affect your relationship? only about them marking in the house but we usually are able to reach an agreement
8. How did you come up with your FurBaby's name? IDK really I just tried to find names that fit their personallities or by the way they looked
9. Do you play dress up with your FurBaby? the only clothes they have is sweaters for when its cold
10. Is your Furbaby indoor, outdoor or both and where do you leave them when you're not home? indoors while we are home and when we are not MH build them a 4x12 room on the back of our outside building and it is heated/cooled and they have a doggie door that leads out to a 16x20 chain linked fence area that they cane play in. They really seems to love it. When I had them before MH they were crated while I was gone so this is like a resort compared to that.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)? IDK I guess it would depend on their quality of life after treatment
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move? nope. when I was getting a divorse I could not find a place that would let me have all 3 so I had to stay w/ my parents until I could get something of my own.

11. How much would you spend onyour FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)?
We have pet insurance, thankgoodness, because we have had to use it a lot. Our shiba had hip dysplasia anda bad knee, so we spent mucho bucks to get her surgery for both. Also, our labas overdosed, had tumors taken out, and gotten numerous ear infections, sonothing is too expensive.

Indoor. She has a little gated area in the kitchen for when we're not home.
11. How much would you spend on your FurBaby if a medical issue arose and how far would you go (medication, surgery, acupuncture)?
Not sure. Depends on what the issue was and if her quality of life would be good if we treated it.
12. Would you beable to give up your FurBaby if you had to move?
I would have a hard time. The house is so empty without her.
