Our washer and dryer are both over 10 years old and on the brink of dying. So we started looking for new ones to get an idea of what is out there and figure out how much we want to spend and remembered the "Cash for Clunker Appliances" bill was passed in the fall. So I figured I'd pass along some info that might save us around $300 in about a month!
So, if you are in the market to buy a clothes washer (but not dryer), fridge, freezer, room or central a/c, air source heat pump, or hot water heater, you might want to check this out:
http://www.seco.cpa.state.tx.us/arra//rebate/
"The mail-in rebates will apply to eligible appliances purchased between April 16 and April 25, 2010....will not be retroactive."
Also, "reserve an appliance rebate by calling a toll-free number or registering online approximately two weeks prior to April 16, 2010."
And it looks like you can combine rebates from City of Austin/Water/Texas Gas to save even more: http://www.austinenergy.com/Energy%20Efficiency/Programs/SECO.htm
