Re: ?Mamas & Mamas to Be: Weekly Check-in?
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 31w 4d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Not bad, actually! Huge, but not bad.
I do, however, have an INCREDIBLY itchy tummy (especially around my multitude of stretchmarks) and no amount of lotion seems to help. Any suggestions?
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Monday - just a regular checkup. And then an appointment with the uber high risk doc on Friday (which will involve an ultrasound). Oh, and the doc who is overseeing my GD on Tuesday. *sigh* It's a good thing I'm not working right now...I'd have to take off so much freaking time for appointments!
(4) What's your favorite thing about being pregnant? I really like feeling the babies move. I'd been telling Ben for a couple weeks about how much they're moving right now, but since they stop whenever he gets near, I don't think he really understood until last night - then he saw something about the same size and shape as an egg suddenly jut out of my stomach and travel across it. I thought Ben was going to pass out lol - he said it looked like something from Alien.
(5) What's your least favorite thing about being pregnant? Currently? The constant pain. My pelvic pain has gotten so bad that I'm having difficulty sleeping because I can't lie on either side for very long. I'd rather have 9 months of morning sickness than this. Really.
(6) Is there anything that you?ve done during pregnancy that you?re not really supposed to do, but you?ve done anyway (either because you couldn?t stand it anymore or thought it was silly)? Hmm. I still eat deli meat on occasion. Only if it's come from the fridge at the grocery store and gone into ours (not like from a buffet or anything), but I do still eat it sometimes. I also painted some of the stuff in the nursery.

(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 14w4d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Feeling great, still tired though... I hope the fatigue and low energy pass soon
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? We had our first ultrasound last week after not being able to hear the heartbeat (photo below). It was incredibly exciting and amazing to see the baby moving, waving and kicking. Like Jaime P said to me on FB, I was sure glad they didn't find the heartbeat so we were able to get an early U/S. Next appt. is just a regular check up on March 16th and our big ultrasound is on April 8th!
(4) What's your favorite thing about being pregnant? I have felt great so far, no big symptoms, just fatigue. I have no complaints.
(5) What's your least favorite thing about being pregnant? See above, no complaints... yet.
(6) Is there anything that you?ve done during pregnancy that you?re not really supposed to do, but you?ve done anyway (either because you couldn?t stand it anymore or thought it was silly)? I have one coffee a day, which my Dr. said was perfectly alright, that's pretty much it so far...
(7) Are there any questions that you'd like to see here in the future? I will keep thinking about this one...

(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
5 weeks and 3 days
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
Starting to get into a routine/schedule with Miss Libby. We're actually back in the master bedroom now that I've gotten her to sleep, on her back, in her ARCS.
J isn't liking his interrupted sleep and we've got to work on him accepting that we're not going to get 8-9 hours straight (he's been "lucky" in that I've assumed all nighttime parenting duties since Libby came home and now that we're all in the same room he's being awakened, etc. I am still the one getting up though and that's something we're working out...I need him to understand that even though I am the one who can feed her right now that he can do the overnight diaper changes, rocking/comforting, etc. too)
She can hold her head up now and smiles and has started to coo...TOO cute! She also has started grabbing for toys on her play gym and when we hold them infront of her.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
6 week OB follow-up next Wednesday...hopefully I'll be cleared for sexy time! Libby goes to her two month appt. on the 25th.
(4) What's your favorite thing about being pregnant?
Feeling her movements inside of me...amazing!
(5) What's your least favorite thing about being pregnant?
The aches and pains and not being able to sleep on my back! Oddly enough, now that I can sleep on my back I don't...I am still on my side! But at least it doesn't hurt anymore!
(6) Is there anything that you?ve done during pregnancy that you?re not really supposed to do, but you?ve done anyway (either because you couldn?t stand it anymore or thought it was silly)?
Ate salmon lox once a week (which is a no-no because it's technically not cooked, just cured and therefore considered "raw" fish) and had soft-serve ice cream about twice a month (also a no-no due to concerns for potential listeria).
(7) Are there any questions that you'd like to see here in the future?
TTCers: Which cycle are you on? Where in the cycle are you? What, if anything, are you doing to have success TTCing?
Mamas: Do you have an exercise regimen for getting back in shape after giving birth?
Right now? It's carrying around a 13 lb. newborn! LOL! Now that Spring is nearly here and it's warming up I plan to tuck her into her carrier and start walking the neighborhood. I've also pretty much stuck to my GD food regimine and that, coupled with BFing, has led me to a 38 lbs. weight loss since delivering Libby. I am now 18 lbs. lighter than when I got pregnant, so that's encouraging!

I anticipate this being a problem with Ben, too.
Intellectually, he knows that it will happen, but I don't think he really gets it, you know? He's such a freaking cranky bum when he doesn't get solid sleep...here's hoping we can survive lol.
I had an itchy belly before, but I haven't had any problems since using Eucerin Calming Creme. It's thick, keeps my skin moisturized and keeps my itchies away.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 13 weeks tomorrow (Friday)
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? feeling okay. morning sickness seems to have subsided.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? had check up today! no u/s but they did listen to the heartbeat on the doppler & it was nice & strong!!
(4) What's your favorite thing about being pregnant? I like that everyone is checking on me - though they are clearly only worried about baby b/c I had a horrible cold last week & everyone was just like "oh well..deal with it. baby can't take meds" Great...thanks for your concerns!!
(5) What's your least favorite thing about being pregnant? morning sickness!! (so far that is it...and from what I hear soon enough I may be asking for it compared to other really not fun symptoms!!)
(6) Is there anything that you?ve done during pregnancy that you?re not really supposed to do, but you?ve done anyway (either because you couldn?t stand it anymore or thought it was silly)? i have had a coke icee pretty much once a day b/c it helped with the m/s...which I know I can have some caffeine, I just didn't want to in the 1st tri. I still eat soft cheese (not blue cheese or anything else with mold) & only well pasteurized & from a store (no raw cheese from farmers mkt)
(7) Are there any questions that you'd like to see here in the future? I will try to think of some!!
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
36w,3d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
Feeling good. Had a check up this week, no progress yet. I get the occasional debilitating sharp pain in my butt after the baby moves into certain positions and still have minor dizzy spells. Otherwise, I'm enjoying my time off, but still feeling busy on the home front.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
Next week. Hoping baby stays put because our regular OB is on vacation for the week!
(4) What's your favorite thing about being pregnant?
Knowing that we're creating a life... even though I really can't wrap my head around the meaning of that just yet!
(5) What's your least favorite thing about being pregnant?
Feeling the symptoms of old age -- hip pain, forgetfulness, being gassy, not sleeping through the night, and having to generally slow it down.
(6) Is there anything that you?ve done during pregnancy that you?re not really supposed to do, but you?ve done anyway (either because you couldn?t stand it anymore or thought it was silly)?
According to the pregnancy books, probably a lot of things... especially once I hit the third trimester. I ate/eat sandwich meat, a little bit of canned tuna, soft cheeses, a bit of caffeine. Just like pre-pregnancy, I've also been in the sun regularly, bikini and all. I try to be smart about things without worrying too much.
We're STILL working on this and it's been 7 months... although it's gotten A LOT better! DH used to say "but she's hungry and you have to get up anyways"... I explained that while I was doing the feeding, he could help out and do diaper changes and rocking/consoling after or before feeds. He does that now and it's a GIANT help!! Ryan LOVES his 8-9 hour sleeps but those days are OVER
We currently need to work on him understanding that just because his SIL is our daycare provider (we pay her) doesn't mean he can take her to daycare on his days off. Currently we're paying for 2 days and he said "what if I want to do yoga or run errands on the other day you are working?" I said "well you'll have to wait until I get home to do yoga and you can take her to run errands with you!! Hello genious!! (Can you tell I'm mad?) It's irritating to me because as a mother you just take your kid with you without complaints and you WANT to spend time with them even if that means it takes an extra 20 mins to run an errand... men sometimes just don't get it!! GRRR
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? She's blowing TONS of raspberries and her latest is wanting to blow them with fingers or the boob in her mouth. She's also sitting up unsupported for longer periods of time and she really enjoys that
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Not until her 9 month and it's a no shot visit!!
(4) What's your favorite thing about being pregnant? I loved feeling her move and feeling round and sexy... the other time in our lives as women that we can truly embrace our curves... now I'm curvy just not in the right places!
(5) What's your least favorite thing about being pregnant?Constipation! Oh and I hated the donkey punch in the front of the pelvic bone feeling... that went on for TOO long!
(6) Is there anything that you?ve done during pregnancy that you?re not really supposed to do, but you?ve done anyway (either because you couldn?t stand it anymore or thought it was silly)?I ate steak medium rare, our OB told me not to but I did and it was so tasty! I only did it a couple of times but it was worth it. The other thing was hot yoga, at first my dr said it was a bad idea but at the end, she agreed it made my labor much better and it made my pregnancy better.
BONUS: PIP of your bump or LO or for TTCers...link to your chart!I forgot how to PIP but there's pics in my blog
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? I'm calling it 5w6d.
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I'm feeling a bit queasy (although I think it's due to a lot of stomach gas) and having some food/smell aversions. I've been getting pretty tired in the early afternoons. I haven't reached the point of exhaustion yet.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? We'll have a 2nd u/s on March 11
(4) What's your favorite thing about being pregnant? I still can't believe I'm pregnant, really. I feel unbelievably blessed.
(5) What's your least favorite thing about being pregnant? The queasiness.
(6) Is there anything that you?ve done during pregnancy that you?re not really supposed to do, but you?ve done anyway (either because you couldn?t stand it anymore or thought it was silly)? I had white tea today. I think it's one of the least caffeinated teas. I've also still been using a mild topical steroid cream for my eczema. It got the green light from both my dermatologist and ob/gyn. I also had turkey breast cold cuts a few times, but my ob/gyn said it was fine and not really the variety of "deli meat" that I should avoid.
(7) Are there any questions that you'd like to see here in the future? I'm not sure if this is too personal, but I'm curious about how others have done with weight gain. My OB/GYN told me that I should only gain 20 pounds (since I fall into the "overweight" category). Sixteen of those pounds should come during the last 16 weeks of pregnancy, meaning I should only gain 4 pounds in the next 6 months?!
BONUS: PIP of your bump or LO or for TTCers...link to your chart!
That little white speck in the middle of that black oval is Baby T (embryo and yolk sac).
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
3 weeks
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
Frustrated. She doesn't nap and is so difficult to put down at all. She'll fall asleep nursing but won't stay asleep unless you don't move her. So I've had to just nurse her in bed and fall asleep with her. Also, we're having BF issues. I should have seen the LC sooner. Not sure if her latch is bad and she's just not sucking efficiently or if my supply is low (or both). She's been nursing for way too long and she always seems hungry. And she's still not back up to birth weight as of today, which is concerning. She's gaining, just not enough. The LC said I should nurse 15 min on each side and pump for 10 min after each feeding for 24 hours to see if my supply increases. But how do I know if the problem is also her latch? I'm so confused.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
1 month well baby check in a week and my 6 week check up on the 19th.
(4) What's your favorite thing about being pregnant?
I loved that I had so many friends/coworkers who were also pregnant who I could talk to about it. I also loved feeling her move in my belly, although at the time I didn't realize I would miss that.
(5) What's your least favorite thing about being pregnant?
Lightning crotch.
(6) Is there anything that you?ve done during pregnancy that you?re not really supposed to do, but you?ve done anyway (either because you couldn?t stand it anymore or thought it was silly)?
I had some caffeine and sushi a couple times (my OB and the perinatologist said it was okay).
(7) Are there any questions that you'd like to see here in the future?
Not sure about this still. Too tired to think.
Mamas: Do you have an exercise regimen for getting back in shape after giving birth?
Nothing planned yet, but we want to walk more often for the dog's sake, and mine. I guess maybe I'll do some DVDs at home - maybe start the 30 Day Shred again. At some point, once I'm fully recovered from the c-section, I'd like to train for a triathlon. I must say that I'm pretty happy with how my body is bouncing back. Although I still have about 15 lbs to lose, my belly doesn't look too bad. I wish my boobs weren't so big, though!
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
4 months on Tuesday!
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
Frustrated. Tired. He's much more stimulated by visual things rather than just audio now. He's always getting more coordinated with his hands to put in his mouth or to grab things. Not perfect, but it's improved.
We;re also still trying to figure out the reflux thing. Seems like everytime we think we found a solution, it goes back to square one. We started trying the soy formula yesterday. Have to figure out how long he needs to be on that to see if that makes a difference. (PS - smells like cat food! yuck!)
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
4 month check up next week (with shots
sadly)
(4) What's your favorite thing about being pregnant?
I loved feeling him move - it was weird but very cool at the same time & being able to eat lots of ice cream
(5) What's your least favorite thing about being pregnant?
The pain on the pelvic bone, not being able to take advil for aches/pains, difficulty breathing once lungs got squooshed!
(6) Is there anything that you?ve done during pregnancy that you?re not really supposed to do, but you?ve done anyway (either because you couldn?t stand it anymore or thought it was silly)?
I had some caffeine a few times/week (my OB said it was okay).
(7) Are there any questions that you'd like to see here in the future?
Mamas: Do you have an exercise regimen for getting back in shape after giving birth?
I wish I could figure something out, but right now carrying him around b/c he doesn't want to be put down when he's tired (but yet won't go to sleep!) is about all I'm getting these days.
Yes, we've run into this too...Joseph is like "can you take the baby, I only have one hand free to do XXX..." Hello? I am becoming a pro at doing things one handed...why can't he?
TTC/PG Blog | Mommy Blog
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 30w 3d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I feel good but the fatigue is slowly creeping back. The good news is I'm sleeping well.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Next Friday...from here on out I see my OB every two weeks. I also think I'm due for another U/S but it hasn't been scheduled yet.
(4) What's your favorite thing about being pregnant? I love most everything about being pregnant. My skin is the best its been in years, my hair is think and shinny and I absolutely love feeling my baby move. Her rolls, jabs and kicks I love it all. Can't wait to meet this little human in my belly.
(5) What's your least favorite thing about being pregnant? All the doctor's appt. and having GD. Its just a drag to have to watch what you eat and check your blood sugar 4x a day. Not to mention weekly appointments. I just hope and pray my numbers stay low so I don't have to add insulin shots to the mix. I mean its not terrible its just a drag plus its an expensive condition to have....$45 per visit co-pay is crazy.
(6) Is there anything that you?ve done during pregnancy that you?re not really supposed to do, but you?ve done anyway (either because you couldn?t stand it anymore or thought it was silly)? I've had a couple of glasses of wine, cup of coffee and soft cheese here and there. Nothing on a regular basis though. Each time I had the glass of wine I felt so guilty I didn't finish it.
(7) Are there any questions that you'd like to see here in the future? When did you pick a pediatrician and how did you find him/her?
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? Jack is 2 weeks exactly
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I'm feeling great. I love snuggling with my new baby. I had an appt. today and everything I guess everything is healing up great so yay for that.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? we both went in today. My MW appt. was great. It was fun going in to show off the baby. Jack is up to 9lb 12 oz (over 1lb weight gain since leaving the hospital and his first ped office appt. 10 days ago.) and they measured him at 22 1/4" so either he grew over 2" since birth or they did not do a good job uncurling him at the hospital (fine by me, I didn't want them manhandling him).
(4) What's your favorite thing about being pregnant? baby kicks
(5) What's your least favorite thing about being pregnant? people asking personal questions.
(6) Is there anything that you?ve done during pregnancy that you?re not really supposed to do, but you?ve done anyway (either because you couldn?t stand it anymore or thought it was silly)? I ate cheese that was probably on the do not eat list other than that not really.
(7) Are there any questions that you'd like to see here in the future?
Mamas: Do you have an exercise regimen for getting back in shape after giving birth? not quite there yet. Looking forward to mom and baby yoga and MH is probably excited about my return to the gym, he doesn't think we get our moneys worth when I don't go.
BONUS: PIP of your bump or LO or for TTCers...link to your chart!I randomly got a sample size of Palmers cocoa butter oil for itchy skin - it was really nice when I got the itchies on my stretch marks. It also cleared up some dry patched of skin I had from the combo of cold weather and pregnancy. Hope you can find it in AU
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
Elyse is 12 weeks
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
I'm exhausted. Elyse had a really tough week. We had to suppliment the evening feeds with formula which made her really constipated. She was really sore and cried A LOT! She's a pretty text book baby, so all the crying was new to us. It's heart breaking when your baby is screaming and you can't do anything to help. One thing that made her feel a bit better is a warm bath. She's finally started pooping again (thankfully!).
She's still gaining weight too slowly so I'm supplimenting with milk I have pumped after the evening feedings (thankfully I was able to build up a small supply since coing on the prescription).
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
We had our three month check.
(4) What's your favorite thing about being pregnant?
My belly! I loved having a pregnant belly. I loved the kicks. I also loved dreaming about what she or he would be like with Russ!
(5) What's your least favorite thing about being pregnant?
The heartburn! Unsolicited advice.
(6) Is there anything that you?ve done during pregnancy that you?re not really supposed to do, but you?ve done anyway (either because you couldn?t stand it anymore or thought it was silly)?
I drank a cup of coffee every morning after first trimester. I also went in our hot tub (that was turned down quite a bit).
Mamas: Do you have an exercise regimen for getting back in shape after giving birth?
I've been walking with my dog, running at the indoor track, snow shoeing. I watched P90X but there is no way I'm doing that! CRAZY! I'm joining a stroller boot camp and baby yoga in two weeks. I'm really looking forward to the exercise and meeting other mamas!
