Asking for positive thoughts.
I have someone who is extremely close to me fighting a very hard battle with alcoholism. They are trying reallly hard to overcome it, but are truly struggling. It's heartbreaking watching the toll it is taking on them. Their self esteem is taking a beating, and are they really down, which in turn perpetuates the cycle. I'm struggling myself trying to walk the fine line between being supportive and being an enabler.
I'm not sure if posting this here is the best idea or not, but I figure all the positive thoughts and prayers sent their way definitely can't hurt.
Re: Asking for positive thoughts.
I'm sorry, Sala... that is an incredibly difficult battle to overcome and it hurts like Hell watching someone you love try to do it.
Lots of positive thoughts for you and your friend :::::big hugs:::::
Many positive thoughts for you and your friend. I went through this with my mother, so I know this is going to be a tough road. I actually went to Alateen (Al-Anon for teens) when I was in high school and found it to be a great resource. I'm here if you ever need to talk.
Thanks everyone! I was debating posting it, as it seems like such a personal thing. It's good to know other people have gotten through it...I wouldn't wish this on anyone, and I know there is still a very long road ahead for all of us.
