So Twinkie coworker finally came back to work today - a full 2 1/2 weeks after having her gallbladder removed. I swear she thinks she is the ONLY person in the world who has ever had this surgery, and she is just suffering so. She only made it 4 hours before she "had" to go home because work was just "wearing her out."
In the 4 hours she was there, she told everyone and anyone who would listen her tale of woe, and would lift her shirt up to show her scars. I find the whole scar-showing very inappropriate, esp. for a bank. I really think lifting your shirt and showing a male customer your scars crosses the line in a big way!!
I wanted to say "for Christs' sake, I can top it - I have the exact same scars you do, plus some from a previous surgery and the stretch marks from having three children! But you don't see me walking around flashing my stomach all over the bank!"
Re: Oh.My.Gawd.
That seriously annoys the heck out of me, too!
R has a co-worker who just had the same surgery and he took--NO JOKE--2 whole months off!!!!! I had the same thing in October and I was back to normal within 4 days!!! WTF???
I loved how he came in and made a big deal out of his surgery, recovery and scars . . . and then R shut him down by telling him "I guess its true women ARE much stronger than men . . . KT went through the same thing and it never seemed to bother her . . . with a newborn at home, too."
Not that I like to admit it but I was out of commission 2 months with my gallbladder surgery, but I also have a manual labor type of job and I had other issues going on that my gallbladder royally messed up in my body. So if she just had a simple procedure then I don't pity her, but if she went through the multiple procedures I had done I feel her pain but don't give her props for bragging and showing scars. You should never have to lift a frickin shirt to show a scar to your coworkers. ICK!
Co-worker FAIL.
Isnt this the same place that was really strict about your tattoo. One would think that belly showing would be restricted to mardi gras only.
Ditto! Gross.
This. I can't stand people who exaggerate circumstances and milk situations, like always trying to top everyone else in their suffering or experiences. It's HIGHLY inappropriate that she's showing off her scars and everything at work....especially since they gave you such crap about a barely-visible tattoo. Ignore her as best you can!
