i'm "back" on the board now - i haven't been online at all this past week b/c i've been so busy at work
i just have to say that i don't know how those of you who work full time do it!! i am working PT but i'm doing contract work so i don't have a set schedule... i work when i find work that is compatible with either DH's schedule or our babysitter's schedule... so sometimes i work one day a week and sometimes i work more.
this past week i worked mon-fri and while it was manageable, it was so hard! i felt like i hardly had any time w/my baby girl in the evenings, even though she has a late bedtime (between 10-11pm)...but i'd get up around 6:30am to feed her, get ready for work, go to work, come home between 6:15-7pm, scramble around to feed myself and then take care of her until she went to sleep and then had maybe 30 min to myself before going to bed. at the end of the week, i was exhausted! i am sure that i could adapt to doing this full time, but i have a whole new respect for those that work full time and take care of a LO now
esp those that still manage to get dinner cooked and onto the table every night while doing so!
ok, off to catch up on this week's posts...
Re: BR: working mamas
I have no idea how people do it, either! And can you imagine being a single mom? Yikes.
I have a friend who recently became a single mom (never optimal, but best for her under the circumstances) and I am just in AWE of her. Granted, her child is a little older - 14 months - but still it's pretty astonishing to me how well she copes. I don't think I could even handle being pregnant at this point without Ben (he does sooooo much around the house and helps me with so many things), let alone parent.
I go back to work this week for three days of Board Meetings. I am feeling very overwhelmed by it! Just figuring out when to pump is stressing me out! The meetings go from 9 am - 6 pm with an hour for lunch. We do take "comfort" breaks but they are not planned for any set time...I think I'll just have to excuse myself if time has passed and my boobs need to be pumped!
That said, I am also feeling emotional about leaving Libby...even though she'll be home with J and my mom (two days a week my mom will be home to help him). I feel like she's growing so fast and I don't want to miss anything!
I also hope my brain works...I mean I am still in that place where I have to search for words and trip over my tongue! Not to mention being clumsy still...I chalk all of this up to post-partum hormones changes and sheer exhaustion. Not a great combo for an executive director. Oy.

All I can say... It is hard.
I wake up at 6am. Shower, get ready. Feed Alexa at 7am. We leave the house at 7:30am. Arrive DH's office/daycare at 8:30am. He goes up to his office (he starts at 8:30). I check her in, then Metro to my office, arriving at 9:15 a.m.
We both get off at 6pm and DH gets Alexa from daycare in his blgd, then drives home. I take Metro home and meet them there. We get home at 7pm. Solids, then bath by 7:30. Bed by 8pm. Then we eat dinner. Then we wash all the bottles from pumping. By then it's 9pm...... And I try to go to sleep by 10pm.
WHEW!

Our day is about as crazy as this too! Except I get up at 5 am and leave the house at 6, home by 8 and DD is already in bed! It sucks! Somedays I end up in tears because I'm not sure how we do it.
I could NEVER imagine being a single parent!! Those poor people, I would have no idea how they afford day care and have time to spend quality time with their LO.
I always had to work, but was lucky my kids grandparents lived down the street and looked after both my kids when thier dad or me had to work.
My kids are late teens now so they are independent and look after then self's now when I work but when I read all the reply's I am thinking omg I forgot how much work it was when the kids were little.I don't think I could do it all over again.
I remember my daughter hated when I went to work when she was little she just didn't understand that I needed to but now that she is 16 she is happy to have the house to her self lol.
Oh, yeah. Sometimes Alexa wakes up at 6:30am when I am still getting ready. We just set up the Pack 'n Play in the bedroom so she can play there until I am ready to feed her at 7am. (This, after she FELL off the bed last week....... She was on the bed while I was getting ready but apparently she has gotten very fast at crawling while at daycare!)
