Here's my thoughts:
1) What was up George Clooney's butt? He seemed very standoffish and sardonic all evening.
2) Brad Pitt, your movie was up for best picture. Long shot or no, show up at the Oscars to support it.
3) Congratulations to Kristin Stewart for almost looking normal.
4) Tina Fey, I love love love you, but your hairstyle looked like a mullet.
5) I really liked the way they did the best actor/actress nominations with the speeches. Thing is, it added a half hour to the show. (And by the way, if Oprah Winfrey got on stage and started saying nice things about me, I would be bawling.)
6) Poor Farrah Fawcet. Her death was outshined by Michael Jackson's and she didn't even get a spot in the Oscars memorial montage.
7) So happy UP won for the music. (The dancing was unnecessary.) All I need is to hear the music from up to get teary eyed!
8) And finally, WOW. A lot of beautiful dresses. DH and I were ready to gawk at the ugly styles, but with the exception of Sarah Jessica Parker (*shudder*), were left disappointed. The majority of the gowns were just fantastic. Among my favorites:
Demi Moore (wish i had a front view of the dress... sooo pretty)
Sandra Bullock (though this is a bad picture of it - ugly lighting)

Kate Winslet

Honorable Mention for dresses goes to: Miley Cyrus, Rachel McAdams, and Penelope Cruz (...but she really needed alterations... she had no shape...)
Re: Karen's Oscar Post-Game Show
OMG Miley's dress was disgusting on her!
My random thoughts:
I was a little disappointed with the hosts- I love Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin, so I had really high hopes for them. But their opening bit seemed to drag on and it felt a little uncomfortable. I really miss the movie parodies Billy Crystal used to do!
Ditto on George Clooney. It was kind of funny the first time, but could he pretend to look happy for 10 minutes?
I liked the speeches for the best actor/actress too, I thought it brought a really personal touch to the show.
I loved Demi Moore's dress, Carey Mulligan's, and Sandra Bullock's. I also really liked the of architectural-ish red one that (I forget her name) from Up in the Air wore. I thought WTF is up with Zoe Saldana's and thought Amanda Seyfried looked like she was wrapped in poufy bubble wrap.
I also really liked the John Hughes tribute.
And I guess I have to go see Hurt Locker now.
You're not the first person to say that to me today! Apparently, a LOT of people hate it. I actually really like it!
Seyfried looked very bridal to me... and I don't think that's the look she should be going for.
And yes, I need to see Hurt Locker, too.... To be honest, I hadn't heard of it before yesterday!!
I hated Miley (too old-looking) and Kate Winslet (too plain) and was not entirely sold on Sandra. The top half was lovely, but the material on the bottom half was just limp and had a cheap-looking shine to it, nit to mention that it hugged her in some unfortunate places (thankfully she wasn't really photographed from the bad angle). My favorites were Queen Latifah and Penelope Cruz. SJP should be shot for going out in public in that hideous concoction she calls a dress.
That's one non-fashionista's point of view!
I actually really like hers from the waist down, but I think the top is just too corset/lingerie-y for me.
*shrug* LoL, I'd totally wear it.
I really, really hate Miley Cyrus. Like, if I saw her on the street I'd want to punch her. And her dad. And she is too young to wear that dress...she is too young to wear pretty much anything she wears.
With that said, I don't get why she was getting so much coverage last night, she had nothing to do with the Oscars.

Too young to wear that dress? Really ? She's 17. The dress covers more than any bathing suit, or shorts/tank-top combo on the streets. I guess I just don't see how it's overtly risque. In fact, I think a younger actress could pull it off much easier than someone with grown-woman boobs.
I wasn't horribly disappointed in the whole show, I thought Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were funny...not Billy Crystal funny, but good enough. The whole dancing to the movie scores was not needed and I found it odd.
SJP was oompa loompa orange. (at least on my tv)
Miley looked fine, but I'm not a huge fan of the constructed top...it looked unfinished. I think the top might have looked better as a simple sweetheart neckline. Anyway, she should not do any public speaking, at least not until she takes COM101 in college. The same with Kristen Stewart; she needs to go back in her hole.
I hated Zoe Saldana's dress....holy craap what was she thinking? I also didn't like Charlize Theron's dress (roses on boobs, really?) To be honest I wasn't in love with a lot of the dresses this year because alot of them looked unfinished or were sewn together last minute.
I loved, loved, loved, Elizabeth Bank's dress. Penelope Cruz, Kathryn Bigelow, and Demi Moore were also on my best dressed list.
When I grow old, I want to look just like Helen Mirren and I want to grab a beer with Jeff Bridges and Woody Harrelson.
I really liked the show this year. It was enetertaining and felt more personal as far as James Taylor playing during pics of who passed away and I like how they had other actors introduce/share stories about the nominees. I LOVED Vera Farmiga's dress! My fav.
Sandra looked very classic and I loved her hair and makeup. I honestly liked Charlize's dress too. I know it looked funny up top, but the color and the train was pretty. IMO.
I just think anything that evokes thought of lingerie is best left for people who aren't still minors (like...someone in their 20s). I don't think the dress itself is bad at all.
