Hi Everyone!
Thank you for the well wishes for our little girl, and thanks to goldenprincess for posting the update!
Finley Summer was born on March 1, everything went perfectly! She was born 5 days before her due date, and a little bit of a surprise, as we expected her to be late. My water broke on the night of the full moon, around 2:00am, and Finley was born at 3:14pm the next day. The birth went really well, better than I could have hoped. Finley, DH and I made a great team, and we did it with no pain meds!
The only complication was at the end, after she was born, the placenta didn't want to come out. The docs were rushing around, trying to figure something out. We didn't really realise what was going on, as DH and I had the baby on my chest and we were getting to know her. At one point, they said I would have to go under general anesthetic for surgery to remove the placenta, which really freaked me out. Finally, after about an hour and just a few minutes from surgery, they were able to get it out.
Anyways, we are all doing great, spending time at home together, having a wonderful time enjoying our family! Murphy (our puppy) is doing great, loves Finley already, and watches over her as she naps, it is adorable.
Thanks again for all the well wishes!!
Oh, for ladies who tore and needed stitches... how long until they didn't hurt??? Mine are killing me today!!! Finley is 1 week old, and they hurt today (and yesterday) more than ever! When does the pain go down? I need to see the light at the end of the tunnel, haha.
Have a great day!
Re: Thanks! And update...
What a great name! Glad you had a smooth labour and delivery!
I am of no help with the sore lady bits because I had an emergency c/s but my MW had suggested that I have tucks pads with witch hazel and a spritz bottle on hand (when we thought it would be a vaginal delivery). Have you used those?
Happy Easter

Congrats, and I love her name!
I was verrrrry sore for a long, long time. I had to have sitz baths like 5 times a day for the first 2 weeks. I found by the 3rd week I felt a lot better.
congratulations!! how much did she weigh at birth? glad to hear your placenta finally seperated without surgery.
as for healing (if you are the queezy type, don't read)... with Noah it took a few weeks, lots of sitz baths. but then around 5-6 weeks I developed an infection in my groin area bc while breastfeeding, I would sit one ankle under my groin, and it clogged some duct down there, and was... well, I spare the details and say it was horrible. so when the swelling from childbirth went down, I started another problem.
with Jeremy, my disolving stitches never disolved. it was super bad pain. I couldn't heal bc daily the end of the stitches would pull on my underwear or something. so much pain! finally when I saw the doctor at his 1 month appointment, she cut them up and pulled them out (so painful!). so after 5 weeks I was able to get the swelling down.
these things don't happen to most people... so if all goes well for you, hopefully 2-3 weeks. lots of sitz baths, though
