I think it's time to cave and admit that I've "hurt" my back.
I think it was from a series of things ... first I got rear ended (the most minor of the incidents), then 4 days later when it snowed, I slipped and fell off my porch, then 12 hours later the next morning I fell all the way down my stairs, around both landings.
It's been continuously getting worse for the last week and a half. I'm at a point now where I can't do anything at all (carry my purse, stand up, lay down, you name it and it inflicts serious pain).
I've always thought of going to a chiropractor as something you do with chronic back pain, which I do not have. However, DH gave me an excellent massage that unfortunatelly didn't help at all.
So ... do I go see a professional massage therapist? Or should I go to a chiropractor? Any any recommendations?
Re: Hurt back - who do I see?
I would see a chiro first, massage therapy will be part of the chiro visit.
If you don't believe in chiro you can always go see a orthopedic doctor.
Are you covering yourself in olive oil these days, or what? You're slippery!!
Get thee to a chiro. I don't have any recs in your part of town, but I would give
to someone who included x-rays as part of their consultation.

...
Massage should be part of your treatment, but not all. I very highly recommend my chiro: http://www.spineuniverse.com/specialist/chiropractor/us/tx/kevin-kanz-8045
I am so sorry you're not feeling well. I hope you get feeling better soon! (I also agree w/ pp, um, slippery much?)
well, some people do use olive oil as lube. just sayin'.
I don't have any recs, but I hope you get better ASAP!
I hate to go all lawyer on you, but I'd call the insurance company of the peeps who rearended you and tell them you are going to the doc. Yes, it may not have been from the accident, but you never know. At the very least they can pay for you to get a consult from an ortho and you can explain all of the bad luck you've had in the past few days and the Dr. can help you sort it out.
I'd just hate to see it turn in to something bigger (a slipped disk or something) and you mistakenly think it was because of something you did when, in reality, it started with the rearending.
For an ortho rec, I go to Viet Tran at The Spine and Rehabiliation Center. They have a north, central and south location.
I have heard this rumor, which is why I thought that might be the case!

Thanks for all your suggestions!! I blame the falling on PMS ... a really bad case of it. I also broke 2 dishes, a fingernail, and stepped on my dog in the same week.
This was all followed by one of my worst visits from Aunt Flo ever, so ... that's my story and I'm sticking to it! And you girls are dirty!
(Olive oil, LOL ... I'm curious how the sheets would handle that. I feel like I'd be replacing my sheets often!)
I hadn't ever thought about the difference between a chiropractor and an orthopedic doctor (it's never been anything I've needed before), so thanks - something to look into!
Thanks again!
